  1. Why someone hasn't taken a different approach is beyond me, but why hasn't a major company looked to paintball for air gun design. Interchangeable HPA tanks with regulators? It could easily be magazine fed and with easily changeable air source. I think you could get some major FPS with the idea. HPA tanks are readily available and fairly inexpensive but 68ci 4500 tanks are a dime a dozen.
  2. I figure light chopping, and brush removal. No need for razor sharp for my purposes, maybe light use as a machete. Will they hold up to it? I have a couple machetes but if this can function as 2 it will save some weight.
  3. I bought the bowie. I beat the hell out of it this weekend and am really impressed. I will probably get the standard down the road. I also just ordered the cold steel shovel and am curious to see the edge on it.
  4. I picked one of these up on a whim. I must say this is a very impressive inexpensive knife. I am really digging it and so far it is taking a beating. For what it costs it is going to make a great addition to my BOB.
  5. Is there a simple way to sharpen knives? Do the accu edge and other hand held sharpeners work? Does the blade size or thickness make a difference with which sharpener you use?
  6. smkw.com smoky mountain knife works
  7. I'm thinking more along the lines to go with my slingshot. If ammo becomes an issue the darts, broadheads and sorts are small and fairly lightweight. I already have several 1000 rounds of 22lr as well as conversions for each of my AR's. I was just wondering how well they work and if it is worth the $25-$30 to get a decent one with plenty of extra darts to boot. Not on the top of my list but something I will look into in the future.
  8. I see this all over the place but what are the actual capabilities of a good blow gun? I was looking at this but think it would take a lot of skill or a lot of luck to kill small game. Anyone used one to kill small game? Other than the size are there any down sides? Cold Steel® 1pc Professional .625 Caliber 4-Foot Blowgun
  9. I just saw this pop up. I have placed several orders from there and have always been pleased. Makes me want to put another order together though.

    PLUM CRAZY

I know I talked with the guy from plum crazy a few weeks back and they really wanted to get into the TN market and had no dealers. He was asking if I knew any dealers in the area personally. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for him to get setup as a reseller. If he could sell these at $130 price point with simple TICS I think he could really do well with it.

    PLUM CRAZY

David, are you an FFL? If so and you are looking to make a little money I have several friends wanting to get one of these after shooting mine. I too am interested in picking up a couple more of these down the road to make a 7.62 and 6.8 rifles out of.
  12. 4.5 grains at 1.100 seems to shoot well. Clean and no issues. I did find out I need to visually inspect my brass better when sorting. On the last of the 32 rounds I loaded (2 mags worth) Th gun went bang the slide cycled and did not eject the case. I manually racked the slide and out it popped. Black as heck. I decided to strip it because of this and low and behold the bullet was in the barrel. About 1 inch from making it all the way out. I loaded these one at a time and weighed every charge to be sure how it went. So when I got home I examined the case and found a major bulge and at the base a hair about the extractor groove there was a tiny crack and the rear portion of the case was BLACK. So my guess is the case was either bulged bad before resizing or it was weak and basically gave out. After clearing the barrel and making sure it was o, I ran a couple of mags of federal 115fmj through it and it is fine. Guessing this could have been much worse than it was.
  13. They tried making home made black powder on an episode of mythbusters. It did not fare well and they had precise scales and formulas. I think you would be better off buying a larger quantity and storing it. A good long bow is nearly indestructible, arrows, while maybe difficult to make would last multiple times assuming you don't lose them. You may not be able to make 100yd shots but 25 yards with a crappy arrow is very doable. I don't currently own one but a good take down long bow is on my list of must have's. That and a rossi trifecta 12,22lr,223. Also people laughed when I told them I put a cheap zebco rod and reel in my bug out bag but I figure it will be much easier to fish on a regular basis than it will be to expect to trap, hunt, forrage, or harvest on a daily basis.
  14. I weighed all 32 that I loaded. All were 4.5 except one which was just under 4.45. I let it ride and loaded it up. No pushing the bullet in. I tried against the table to be sure.
  15. The lacquer is shiny and a brownish color the poly is flat gray
  16. I've got at least 2k through mine. Stay away from the lacquer coated and get the poly coated. You won't have any issues. I plan on getting a hand loader in 223 to make some hunting rounds with them. It will be a little while because I just bought a couple new toys though.
  17. They were loading fine but the bullet was barely seated, about 1/16 of an inch. They also shot very dirty. I figured it was either too much powder or not set deep enough to build enough pressure to burn the powder thoroughly.
  18. What oal are you using? I bought the adjustable charge bar and got the 4.5 but ir seems 1.142 is too long.
  19. I remember a while back someone on here was selling some. Any one remember who that was.
  20. So my cheapo AR must be an exception to the rule. I have shot about 2000 rounds of tula and about the same federal 22lr with a cmmg conversion. Still have not cleaned the rifle and keep waiting for these famous problems to occur. Once I get a failure of some kind I will report and clean. Until then I will keep buying all the white box tula I can find at $3 a box of 20. And to make it nicer they are boxer primed and can be reloaded. Just lube the case well and use carbide dies. There are plenty of people reloading the combloc steel. Just check each round to make sure the neck is good.

    PLUM CRAZY

Uploaded with ImageShack.us Here is a pic of mine. Can't figure out how to rotate it and keep it rotated.
  22. I've got both the 40 and the 9mm. I really like them. I think they are by far the best "bang" for the buck. As far as the mag rattle, my M&P does the same. If you pop the bottom of the mag they will usually seat well enough not to rattle.
  23. Try the new S&W SD9 or SD40. G&L has them, that's where I got my SD40. G19 size with much better ergos, standard front night sight, 16+1 in 9mm and 14+1 in .40. Fit like a glove and for the money can't be beat. If trigger becomes an issue apex is working on a kit that should be out soon.
  24. 4.5 is the load that hodgdon lists as the starting point. Now just have to wait for my scale to get here today so verify the charge. Then I can load up a couple dozen and go shoot to see how the do
  25. I've used berry's and ranier but for the price you can get zero FMJ or JHP for about the same price. I use titegroup for powder and load them on the lighter side. Be careful not to seat them too deep as it increases the pressure and can cause a kaboom. We use 180 gr bullets too so you can use the least amount of powder.
