  1. I've never built one, but I've seen'em and if you had some plywood or OSB and some 2x4's it would be doable. I say build it.
  2. Monster one. The biggest I think I've heard of was about 60lbs.
  3. I thought HI-Point should've made the .45 carbine first. Instead of making a lot of guys wait.
  4. I don't have one, but a friend does and loves that thng. Actually his is a XS7 in .308. He said it handles great and he's killed a couple deer with it already.
  5. I'd probably yell at him or something to get the bears attention. If that didn't work I'd probably put a hole where his life used to be.
  6. I hope you enjo'em all. I don't have a Carcano, but do have a 1936 Tula 91-30 and a BCD K98K. Its not a RC though. Looks like it might be a bringback because theres no import marks.
  7. I should of used a different word than wierd I guess. I meant different. They're decent old rifles and revolutionary.
  8. Some have sights already on them, but I would put on a scope made for a crosbow. It wouldn't be to hard to sight in and then you'd be ready to go. My nephew got one and put on a 4x scope and has killed 2 deer with it. Its pure poison at 40 yards and under.
  9. Prvi Partizan is good ammo. My wifes cousin bought several boxes of 6.5x55 and its great stuff. Prvi is probably the cheapest reloadable ammo out there.
  10. Yeah like the other guys said the M38 is rarer. Another rare model carbine is the 91-59.
  11. DRM, that old boy should score decent. Real good deer there.
  12. I've been seeing some. Mostly hens, but a few good gobblers. I might try it this weekend.
  13. Yeah the Italians had to be wierd for some reason. They used a .268 in their 6.5x52 and their 7.35 is a .30 cal., but it don't use a .308 standard bullet. It uses a bullet of about .300. From what I hear it can vary a little from .298-.300. I still wouldn't mind having a good Carcano though.
  14. I see a few Carcanos in 7.35, but everytime they are bubbaed up bad. They even made some in 8x57.
  15. I never see any for sale on any companies websites. Only the online auctions. I saw one at a pawn shop a year ago. It was a 91-38 I think for $265. They're good rifles. A lot of people think different than that. Theres a guy on www.surplusrifle.com forum that is a Carcano genius.
  16. DWARREN123 pretty much summed it up. If your like me you'll enjoy it but may not save a lot, but will get to shoot more. Sometimes companies like MidwayUSA will have kits that will have pretty much everything you'll need except powder, bullets, primers. You don't say if you have .45 ACP or .45 Colt. If ACP you may need a 4 die set with the taper crimp die.
  17. Both of them look to be in great shape. I looked at a Model 91 TS Troop Carbine at a gunshow at Cookeville a few years ago and the old guy who had it wanted $450. It looked like it had been through 20 wars. The stock was full of dents and gouges too. I thought about seeing if he would take less, but I knew I'd make him mad when I made him an offer.
  18. Jamie, I remember seeing a interview with Roy years ago and he said that people would come into the museum and kinda freak out seeing Trigger. He said that he had him so long that he couldn't see putting him in the ground. He thought he would have him mounted so that he could see him and fans could. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.
  19. WD, thats messed up man. Some people would mount anything. The pets is what freaks me out.
  20. Hope your wife is on the mend.
  21. WD, you was saying some wierd things people would want mounted. I saw something in a taxidermy shop once that blowed my mind(whats left of it). It was a Game rooster. Mounted with comb cut off like a fighting rooster. I wondered if somebody's prize rooster got killed in a fight or what the _ _ _ _ happened. Wierd.
  22. I went yesterday afternoon and saw 3 does and alot of snow for about 15 minutes. It snowed so hard you couldn't see very far. I wish I'd seen the buck I missed about a week ago.
  23. Can anybody recommend a good knife sharpener? I know I need to learn the art of sharpening with a good old whit rock, but I just never learned it. I need something that will sharpen quick and easy. I had one of the pull through sharpeners that worked good , but lost it and can't find another.
  24. Like 1gewehr said, most U.S. military rifles won't hve matching nos. because most got rebarreled at least one time. Stocks and other parts got changed too. Nice old rifle you have there.
  25. Yeah that old geezer is definately a C&R.
