  1. I was at work on Friday when Mrs. D3vo called me from the Lebanon Gun Shop. My wife went to a gun shop on her own and because she wanted to! I was so happy I almost cried. She said it was a nice place.
  2. My wife is awesome! I have the green light for a firearm purchase this fall. I have decided to get my first AR15. I am not ready to build, so I plan to purchase a Doublestar: Star 15 M4 16" .223/5.56 http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=411537957 The rife cost will wipe out most of the budget, but I need optics. I would like to have something that could target 100-200 yards in an AR style optic. I have up to $150.00 to spend and want your suggestions. I found the Firefield® 2.5 - 10x40 mm AR - 15 / M16 Laser Scope, but it might be crap. I don't know anything about optics. The link is below. Anyone have thoughts about this scope or have a suggestion to offer? Firefield 2.5 - 10x40 Mm Ar - 15 / M16 Laser Scope, Scopes, Firefield, Firefield at Sportsman's Guide
  3. I got there @ 9:00 and stayed till 12:00. I wasn't buying or selling, but there was a lot to look at.
  4. I have the XD40 Subcompact and looking to get a Kahr PM9. The PM9 is a significant reduction in thickness and weight when compared to my XD40SC.
  5. Nice gun. We bought one this month with the Crimson Trace laser grip. I highly recommend you look into the CT grip.
  6. Let me get this straight. Your keeper (congratulations) has saved up a good bit of money because she loves you and wants to do something special for you? IMHO, if you buy something for her you steal her joy of giving. She made a decision to save and did it because she cares for you and wants to show it. You can buy something for you with her in mind, but she wants to make you happy. If you cant find something (girlfriend friendly) you like too I wouldn't do it. Remember: Its your birthday and she is trying to make it special for you. Or I could be talking out my butt because I don't know either of you. Either way it's something to think about.
  7. I personally wouldn't say any Taurus is unacceptable, but as a whole I agree with you. I found the Defense Ranking criteria and it does not include quality or reliability. Perhaps quality or reliability should be a part of the formula, but for now all guns are assumed to go bang.
  8. What result are they bias toward? Some of results I did not expect, but I didn't recognize a pattern driving to a predetermined result.
  9. I tuned in to 99.7 WTN's morning show and caught tail end of the website being discussed. I distinctly heard the host say if the restaurant was remotely interested in banning they provided a gun-buster on the spot. Anyone else hear the same?
  10. You may already know about this site, but it's new to me. I liked it so much I am posting the link. Genitron.com - The Handgun Information Resource - Home Page The Search Handguns and Compare Handguns links give you access to Genitron.com's online database of handguns. Here you have tools to search for and compare any handgun in the database. A new ranking feature has been added to give you a measure of a handgun's power, recoil and self-defense status. The ALL NEW Stats and Rankings link provides general statistics about the handgun database. It also has a tool for ranking the Top 100 handgun models based on the four primary rank categories; Power Factor, Recoil Factor, Concealability and Defense Factor, along with selection filters such as handgun type and caliber. The Manufacturer List link provides information on all the major handgun manufacturers and importers with links to their websites and searches into Genitron.com's handgun database by manufacturer. The Handgun Basics link provides educational and other general handgun related information, including fully animated and interactive illustrations of the internal operation of a semiautomatic pistol and revolver. The Handgun Reviews section has hands-on reviews of many popular modern handguns. This section is updated periodically. The 360 Degree Views section provides animated interactive full rotational views of many of the handguns featured on this website. You can view these handguns from any angle.
  11. I debated adding this as it won't make the OPer feel better. Academy is $299.00 and Smith and Wesson has a $50.00 rebate on them until October 3rd.
  12. I guess they didn't plan of to many visitors. I just clicked the link and received the following message - "The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later."
  13. $275.00 for a used Sigma when $299.00 brings home new is more than I would pay a stranger. Would I pay that to support a friend as stated in the OP? Maybe leaning toward Yes. I think you could sell it to recoup most your money.
  14. The holster is a High Noon Split Decision IWB. Split Decision
  15. Mrs. D3vo got her HCP in the mail on Thursday. Her Smith 642CT (Crimson Trace) and High Noon Split Decision holster arrived today. The only issue we have to resolve is the laser is out of alignment and the hex wrench that should have been in the case was not. I want to thank everyone for their input.
  16. The drivers license picture and the HCP must match? If that were the case the problem is with your divers license since the HCP is more recent.
  17. No, but I feel I can get to one quick enough.
  18. I assume if the weapon is in your backpack, the backpack is in your possession at all times. No one wants a homeowners kid to discharge the weapon. In scrubs the fanny pack "sounds" like your best choice
  19. I don't want to see Drewsett get stuck with additional cost in a bad economy. Let me explain why an increase in premium is likely without traffic school. You purchase auto insurance in increments called terms. These terms and are generally six or twelve months in length. At the end of the term you will be sent a renewal notice which might have the same or different premium. Why does the premium change? It could be because the company has had a high accident rate in your area so the rates were increased. Let’s assume the rates remained the same. Most companies at the time of renewal pull an MVR (Motor Vehicle Report) for all drivers on the policy. If the MVR reveals you have violations your rate will likely be increased. Why will your rate increase? It’s generally accepted that people who drive 90MPH are a higher risk of accident than those driving the speed limit. Can you change insurance companies or agents to avoid the increase in rate? You can change insurance companies, but they too will run an MVR and you will still pay higher rates than if you had gone to traffic school. Insurance.com had a pretty good article on the subject. Will an Accident or Ticket Increase My Car Insurance Rates? | insurance.com
  20. Take the school and keep the points off your record. Insurance companies run consumer reports (MVR and C.L.U.E. Reports) at new business and renewal. If the points show up your premium will be increased.
