Why not think about a 357 mag, they are great shooters, very few parts to worry about and will stop most anything. I shoot a Dan Wesson 357 revolver and love it.

My 357 Dan Wesson 15-2, most of the time I use 38's but when i carry it it's full of 357mag.

I carry a Beretta Px4 and love it, even it is a full size pistol it's not that heavy and hides well under a shirt. Best of all it shoots very well and very straight.

Don't have a PPS but have several 9 mm, with todays ammo if you place your shots the 9 mm hollow point will stop most anything. But if you still have a concern get a 45 auto, ammo cost about what a 40 does and will drop a horse.

I would agree that you should try several guns out. Also the 9mm is a great choice to start with, cheaper to buy, less recoil and a lot fun at the range. I would add a additional gun selection to look at, the Beretta Px4 Storm. I have two and they shoot great, easy to care for and won't cost you a arm and a leg. I have a 9mm and a 45ACP, both are great guns.

Glad to here about Yuengling buying the old Coors plant in Memphis, I like their beer but it's hard to find sometimes. Being a old tennessee boy I like Jack Black if I am going to drink the hard stuff.
