  1. He'll have his chance to vote to overide or not just like all the rest.....
  2. Maybe, but presented to the right people they can help it become law. As has been said this is very emotional for all us, myself included, but I hope this is simply that latest "political posturing" move on this bill and when it gets back to the legislature the veto will be overridden and all will be good.... or again...as I hope.
  3. FWIW it is now on the bill's status page According the state's website on How a bill becomes law it will now be sent back to the house of origin. Not sure if that is the house or senate in this case and it really doesn't give any info about the procedure after that point.
  4. To clarify....I agree the LEO brass and organizations do not always reflect the officer on patrol. But of course that is what the we are lead to believe. ...and my statement was geared more toward the political machine available to the LEO brass and organizations and not the individual officer.
  5. Good question, but my feeling is he would still have vetoed it. For whatever reason this bill just got a whole lot of media attention, even on the national level.
  6. No disrespect to any of the LEOs on this board....but I guess that just shows the guys with the badges and guns have more pull than we do. Also that the idea of a "nanny state" is alive and well in TN. The government knows what is better for us than we do.......
  7. Sounds like he expects it to be overriden.....and he was just making his point a.k.a political statement. Some point....
  8. If he vetoed this bill that passed so overwhelmingly, what might he do with the parks bill that barely passed in the house? Can comment in this thread... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/21786-park-bill-house-schedule-today.html
  9. I agree...the timing is no coincidence. The legislature has already adjourned for today, they won't be back in session till next week. In other words after June 1.
  10. If Bredesen vetoed the restaraunt carry bill (http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tennessee-politics-legislation/21893-tennessean-saying-bredesen-will-veto-hb962.html) that passed by such a large margin. What might he do with the park cary bill, that just barely passed in the house?
  11. I agree since it past by such a large margin in both chambers that a simple majority shouldn't be too hard, but as we are learning...it's not over...well till it's over.
  12. Ok.....so how quick does this go back to the legislature and how quick can they vote to override the veto? Any ideas on how many votes we could loose in each chamber due to the veto?
  13. Ok Ok....looks like there has been a bit of mis-reading and assumptions made by some. Let's not let it get out of hand. Let's stay on the even more controversial topic of a positive OC experience. ...and the quality of Little Cesar's pizza....
  14. I am not toothless or own a Smith and Wesson.....
  15. Might depend on the judge...... But not sure I'd want to take it that far. Remember a conviction for a Class A misdemeanor means losing you HCP until what ever sentence you get is completed, including probation.
  16. LOL...well one advantage of it being a smaller town. Plus it was like less than $5. Not like I'd feeled up dual tank SUV or something...lol
  17. LOL....I so know how you feel. A couple of years ago I was out riding the bike, armed. Had been out a couple of hours or so and stopped to get gas. Small town pumps didn't have a card reader on them, so I pump, go into pay....yep, you guessed it, no wallet. The lady there understood, she took my name and address and I promised to come back and pay her (about 40 miles from home). Got home and was able to call back and just do the debit card over the phone. But now I have money hidden on the bike just in case.....guess I could get a duplicate HCP to put on there as well.
  18. Doesn't TN and/or Federal law allow for a "loan" of a firearm to almost anyone? Also what restrictions are there on renting firearms at most ranges?
  19. Here is a long discussion we had about carry on TVA water in the past. Within it a copy of this letter from the TWRA was posted.
  20. Had it been the guy's intention to actually document wrong doing by the deputy and either report it or with his bravado actually try and make a citizens arrest....I might (despite the language) be able to support the guy. But to me it looks like his intention was to just harass and be a d**k toward the officer.....hard to back that anymore than if it was the other way around. On a separate note...I know LEOs rush to calls all the time, but in TN they can not legally violate any traffic laws unless they have both their lights and sirens activated.
  21. LOL...been there done that
