  1. Just a basic wood with last name on one side and initials and date on the other. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Haha I knew it was night something. I looked at one today.
  3. Looks like this may be the Nighthawk pictured instead of the Talo but I did find a Talo in stock at Classic Arms and went with it. I handled just about every gun Ruger makes within reason and although I would love to have a Match Champion now it's not something Daddy would have fell in love with.I am super excited about it and am now looking to get some personalized wooden grips made. Anyone have any suggestions on who to go to for that? I'll get some pictures posted after I get a chance to shoot it. Thanks again for all the advice and for steering me towards a Ruger.
  4.  I guess it would help to explain my motivation for this but I won't go into detail. I have a very complex family story but long story short I was legally adopted by my daddy and thus now have his last name. My daddy did have firearms but I do not believe I will be getting any of them. He loved me and all but circumstances may prevent me from getting any of them. Even if I could get them at this point I'm not sure if I want them. I am wanting something that will remind me of him each and every time I shoot it. I have decided that will be something by Ruger.   He didn't shot competitions or shoot a lot for that matter but he just swore by Ruger guns and loved owning them. My motivation is a combination of something that will remind me of him but at the same time something I will enjoy and be able to pass down to my children as a symbol of what I enjoy. I guess since it's not something he actually owned I am just thinking of what he would have enjoyed owning.   I can tell you he would not care for a single action revolver. :pleased:  As pretty as they are.   I do plan to get some form of customization done to it whether that is engraved grips or metal engraving with my last name. That kind of has me steering away from a match champion and maybe towards a regular GP100 or SP101 with less engraving.
  5. Ok. Thanks for all the advice guys. After handling quite a few guns tonight I have settled on getting a Ruger. I have narrowed it down to either the SR1911 in some form or a GP100.Probably a Match Champion. He liked Ruger Pistols and owned an SR9. While he never owned a revolver he always talked about wanting one as well as a 1911. Anything Ruger will always remind me of him so I just have to decide between the 1911 or GP100. Im going again tomorrow to see  if I can find a Match Champion somewhere. I have held a GP100 but not that model.
  6. I can tell you one thing. He loooooved Ruger.
  7. I am leaning towards a Colt or Springfield at this point but I've only ever held the Springfield. Being that I don't know much about them I'd probably want something not loaded out that I could upgrade over time. I have heard Colt's quality isn't as good as it once was.
  8. Sorry should have mentioned that. I would like to stay around $1000 but can go over that if it's worth it. Don't HAVE to spend that much either though. I just want quality that will stand the test of time.
  9. As some of you know my dad recently passed away and I am looking to get something that will not only honor his memory but be passed down from generation to generation. I am currently thinking of something along the lines of a 1911 but am also considering a lever gun or nice bolt action. I am not terribly familiar with the 1911 platform but do plan to go put my hands on some soon. Any recommendations or suggestions on what to look for or not look for would be helpful. I do plan to shoot whatever I get and am thinking of shooting the 1911 in CDP.
  10. Well I'm gonna HAVE to get some aperture sights now. I was headed back out to walk some timber with the 30-30 and met four coyotes in the big 300 acre field. Shot all my rounds and had to walk back to the house for more. Not one of them went down. May have grazed one. Really wishing I had the 300 blackout with me but I do now! 11. I've had one doe that never slowed downs four small bucks wander in. Wish I'd have shot the doe but I wanted to see what was behind her. About 53 turkeys too harassing the deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Do you have the FP or the WGRS version?
  13. Hmmm that's interesting. I like the looks of the Skinner better but the ease of adjustment on the Williams is making the decision a hard one.  I guess once I set it though I won't be changing it. I want it to be as slender and snag free as possible so that particular model may be out though.
  14. I am debating on putting an aperture sight on my 336 and am hoping to get opinions on what to go with. I don't want to put a scope on it but I feel like the stock irons leave a little to be desired. I see that Williams and Skinner are the two most prominent vendors for them. Anyone have one or the other?
  15. The bottom post on this link shows some data but he is using a 4" barrel. I believe it's measured out of a 5" so you may gain a little. 5.8 to 6 is gonna be the sweet spot with a little wiggle room if this guys data is correct.   https://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=479172   How much are you using now?
  16. One of the comments on the site says" How many more illegal guns on the street?". Is this really how people think now? Just pisses me off really.
  17. Just a note you can get a .300Blk upper for pretty cheap for hunting purposes. Won't be top of the line or anything but if you want to go that route check out radical firearms. I'm totally happy with mine.
  18. just to be clear you tried it in a 42? Any chance of selling it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Me too.
  20. Has anyone tried the Ghost Edge connector in the G42? I have the Edge connector and spring kit in my Glock 19 and love it but am wondering if it will help much with the G42. My pull has to be around 7-8 pounds now. It's noticeably heavier than any other stock Glock. I've polished up the internals too with not much improvement.   Ghost doesn't make a spring kit yet so I'd be using just the connector.
  21. I don't believe him. That was the PERFECT place to include a cry for help from Glenn. We all assumed we would get some closure about Glenn on this episode yet we didn't and thought we got the shaft for one more week. Then just as the credits are about to roll they throw that in. Genius on their part by giving us SOMETHING to chew on.   I mean it could be the guy that stole his bike but I feel like after what happened Daryl wouldn't make the same mistake a third time and go to help him. Also that guy just didn't have the look or chops to be a recurring character IMO. This could set up Daryl being captured by you know who though so I guess it could go either way.
  22. We have a used 20ft steel floor car hauler here at work we are trying to sell. Has brakes. If you are interested in a 20ft shoot me a pm and we can discuss the details. We just used it to deliver a few tractors and move some racks from west TN to Nashville when we moved.
  23. I think the saviors have him and he may still yet meet Lucille. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. He's alive!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Yeah I'm not liking it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
