  1. Your right on with Byrds. I spent a good while in there looking at just about all the suplus guns he had. Most were well within my price range and I could have walked out with several but I really wanted the M1 Garand. I figured before I just do an impulse buy I had better study up on the Garand. From what little I have read about them they are prone to cracking in the reciever in different areas. I need to know how to check one out before I buy. On a side note I also found a place called Big Al's- its a tobacco, pawn, retail and gun store all in one. Interesting place for what it is. Its on 11e south but cant remember what county or town- sorry. All in all I think I will be making a trip back to Byrds in a month or two. Thanks to those who replied and hey GKar what is TCGD?
  2. Thanks, any idea as to what they may have as far as military rifles? Im not looking for anything special, just a good deal
  3. Im headed to Johnson City in the early am tomorrow. Headed to Mt.Home for a quick test and out the door I go. I was wondering if any of you nice folks living out that way and even into Elizabethton can guide me to any pawn shops or gun stores in the area? I have a friend living in Mountain City but may be out of town tomorrow so I was looking for a new guide. We dont have to hook up but just give me some addresses and i'll bring the laptop and mapquest it. Thanks
  4. I dont want to hijack the post here but just a quick yes or no will answer my question. If you click on the following link http://www.gunfreediningtennessee.org/levi-hanks-bar-and-grill you will see the flying fork in several places on the site. Now some of you may have seen the sticker im trying to describe but it simply says " A gun free dining area" with the picture of the flying fork in the middle.. So the question is, is this a legal posting? I was open carrying at the time and as I was seated the manager approached the table and simply asked if I had a permit to carry and if so could he see it. I politely showed him and he said everything was good. As I left I looked at the posted sticker he said they had and I can honestly say I have never seen one like this before. So legal or not?
  5. ]Welcome Tanker to TGO. I have been to this shop myself and the owner is an odd bird, but you might want to check out his website and store in person http://www.wildmans-shop.com/index.htm .. From what you describe in wanting to do, he has been doing for years and is not that far from Chatanooga. There are also several other small shops heading back toward Chatanooga that deal in the same items you describe. I wish you the best on your venture
  6. This show was a dissapointment ... It seems it was the same show as what comes around to the local NG Armory. About 30 vendors and none of which I could find any to negotiate on anything.. I'll just stick to the big show at the expo. Did anyone elso go?
  7. You sir are right on que.. its not $10 dollars to get in. The poster in the front window of the eatery said $8. I can only assume the dollar off applies as well to bring it down to $7
  8. Hey all, just spotted this in a local eatery today. Just thought i'd share
  9. Thanks to Dolomite he hooked me up with a link to Ebay for a pair of AR crush washers which I ordered last week and recieved this past friday. They are just a hair to small to fit over the threads. Im just going to drill one out and go from there. I'll post more when I get the time to get this little project done.

    Combat Pawn

Just seen this on True TV. Combat Pawn premier July 15. guess you will have to google it or see the ads on True Tv but looks very interesting. From what I can tell its another pawn show but all related to big guns.
  11. I was flipping radio stations today and just happened on WNOX 100.3 in knoxville. The thing that caught my attention was a person called in to the radio hosts radio show and was asking what and if he knew anything about the proposed $1000 tax on our firearms. The host really had no idea of such news but could only speculate that if it did happen it would be on new purchases only. So the question is has anyone else heard of such nonsense?
  12. The wife and I and my buddy Mike would like to thank all who were involved in putting this all together. Although we got there late we all had a great time and it was nice to have met some of the fine members of TGO.
  13. I hope this is the right forum group. Good Day, A week ago I picked up a nice Golani in 5.56 for a really great deal and at the time I knew nothing about the Golani. After purchasing the rifle and getting it home my wife noticed that the rear cover was aftermarket because of the scope mounted on it and what do we do about putting on the factory cover with rear sights. Well as it turns out while I was at the sale there was a large box full of ar mags and a bunch of misc parts, so Im assuming the cover in question was in that box. I called the dude back later that day and said that all the items that were left were sold and gone from the house already. I have spent several hours now searching the WWW. and have not really found anyone who carries all the parts to put together and original cover with the peep sights as an assembly. Does anyone have a good lead for me as to where I can find the parts I need? And secondly the flash supressor is of the old school M16 style and its loose on the barrel. Its threaded but there are no flat spots to tighten with a wrench. It is not pinned either. So how do I go about gettting it tight? All and any advice would be great. Thanks
  14. Just got around to copying this. Its not a complete list as I did not stick around for the entire acution.

  16. Here is what I found out today about the scope. Its a BSA Dearhunter DH2510X44 That model number is the best I could figure out by looking on BSA's webpage. Seems that it would be a cheaper one but it did not have a price listed. So would $200 still be a fair price? The rifle itself is in fine shape with a few small scratches in the stock on bottom, nothing major.
  17. Just my luck, my buddy was not home today. As soon as I hear from him i'll inquire about the scope and post more then.
  18. I'll check on it tomorrow and research the scope. I'll post back tomorrow and see what you all think. I dont know anything about scopes, I have a Marlin 60 with a little $15 scope from walmart on it and that all I know about it. The 882 has a much nicer and larger scope than mine does but I do know they make larger cheap scopes too.
  19. I have no idea what kind or power of scope it has on it and its blued not stainless, I may stop back over at his place tomorrow and get some more details but im still anxious to hear what you all have to say.
  20. Happy Easter everyone, I found an older fella at the flea market today that had a Cobray OU derringer made in ducktown TN, It shoots 45 410 lower barrel and .22 in the upper barrel. My quetion is what would this little pistol be worth? I have not been able to find much information about this exact model. I have learned that quality is a bit questionable and they sold for about $60 in the 90's. He priced it to me for $200 so im wondering is it a good deal or not? And also while I have this post open, a friend of mine offered me a Marlin .22 magnum model 882 with scope for $200. Good deal or not? Both guns seem to be in VGC as far as I can tell. Im just looking for some input, Thanks
  21. Yes sir it is. In fact there are so many that it has drawn the attention of a buddy of mine whos been looking for a home defense firearm. He's been looking and has never been to a gun auction so this will be a first for him. If anyone else is going I wish you luck.
  22. The wife saw the whole news segment and they said it was 20 years worth of collecting and they have now decided to sell the gun off. She also found a link on www.wate.com with the info as well.
