  4. Ian, My wife and I just want to thank you again for putting this all together and it turned out well. Im glad to have met some new faces and hope to shoot with you all again.
  5. Ive got an H&R 9 shot and it does the same thing. Its not like I have to use a hammer to get them out but I just have to push a little harder on the ejector to get the spent cases out.
  6. The wife and I are still planning on coming out. Ive only a quick check and I know its on for this coming Sat, but can someone shout out a time. Thanks.
  7. There maybe some truth to that. I did find one website that said that Herbert Schmidt had made firearms under vaious names and RG/ROHM was named but this frame is stamped " herbert schmidt", I dont know really if it makes a difference but that what it says.
  8. Well the wife and I went to the gun show today and really didnt find anything that we just had to have. So now were in the truck and driving out the parking lot and there sits a guy with a few guns on the hood of his truck. The wife spots a revolver sittin up there and asks what it is, he says "its German and im asking $50" Well as you can see in the pics the grips are gone the cylinder does not rotate naturally in sa or da, cylinder lock up is fair/poor but I would shoot it and the hammer has some slop in it as well. As far as the gun goes and best as i can find it is a German made HERBERT AND SCHMIDT .22 long rifle in sa/da made in 1966. The wife is a sucker for anything German made as she is truly a German girl to the core so she decides she wants this as a project (her first one). She gets the selling price down to $30 and we drive away. So now after spending several hours on google It seems that there is not a whole lot of info on this firearm. We are still trying to figure out exactly what model it is. On the but of the grip frame besides the serial # its stamped HN11 so we assume its a model 11. well all the model 11 info is for a single action cowboy style. If anyone has any direct souces of info about the gun and for parts The wife would certainly appreciate it.
  9. Just fyi. I have retired from Firestone tires retail stores about 8 years ago and to let you in on a secret, they had bought out most of the local tire shops in the Maryville/Knox area. In fact around the country. They may have not changed the name of your favorite local tire store but it might just be Firestone owned which in turn is only supporting the Japanese anyway.
  10. alcoa walmart use to carry them. 3 pac for $9 keyed alike. dont know if they still have them or not. Dick's has them as well but im not sure if they have them in multi packs
  11. Depending on weather im planning on coming. Its just a short trip up the road from the house.
  12. I heard WIVK with live remote reporting from there today talking about the gun show
  13. Where is this event to take place? Just curious as to which end of the county I'll be traveling.
  14. If It helps anyone else as to what BPE explained in his post, I have a 8ch dvr with 4 cams recording 24/7 and I get a full 4 weeks stored on 1 tb hd before it starts to overwrite itself. Dont skimp on the cameras either. Get the best you can absolutely afford. The quality of pic, resolution, amount of led's,and distance really matters especially at night. Try finding a spy shop in your town. Start there and get educated. You will find good systems online for better pricing than local but be sure you know what your getting first.
  15. I can only recall 2 speeding tickets in my life but the worst was over 20 years ago in Bell county Tx. I was active duty Army then and had just reached the 500 mile break in on my newly rebuilt engine in my 68 nova and I wanted to see what it would do. I was already on the road and as the odometer hit 500 I punched it and was running 110 in a 45. As I topped a hill there sat deputy dog. I just kept it gonig for another mile or so and finally pulled over to wait for the cop. He finally showed up a few minutes later and I sat with all my papers in hand. He wrote me a ticket for 110 and told me I had to appear in court. Now at this time I had just gotten orders to go to Germany and I told the judge this. He wanted to bury under the jail for wreckles but since I was leaving he fined me well over $600 and told me I had better not get another ticket in his county. Well as it turns out I did it again, this time 75 in a 55. I certainly did not want to spend my last few weeks in jail before going to Germany so I thought it out carefuly cause I knew then I was in serious trouble with the judge. I figured if I wait it out till the day before I left Tx I would sneak in the court house late in the day and just simply pay the ticket with the court clerk. It worked, I was off the hook and was never happier to get out of Texas as I was at the point. I traveled from Tx to Chicago to store my car before leaving the country and I must say I stayed the speed limit the entire trip.
  16. I did a search as to where I could get this same sticker and my search engine brought me to the AR15 forum and it turns out the owner of the eatery is a member there. The ideas he got for the sticker were from other forum members. As far as I can tell its been posted that way since 2009. This> Lili's Authentic Oriental Cuisine (Chinese), across from CVS on West College Street.
  17. Happy New Year all. I have a question to you Saiga 7.62x39 owners. My wife has one and I would like to get her an AK speedloader but I do not know if it will fit the factory Saiga magazine. I see most of the AK mags are steel and hers is a poly. The loader I was considering is the chinese slipon type so she could then use the SKS stripper clips. I have looked online for a dedicated Saiga loader but only find loaders for ak's. Any info would be helpfull.
  18. Merry Christmas to you all from the wife and I to yours
  19. Welcome to TGO
  20. Welcome Josh
  21. I too have been to MIkes place in Tazewell as well. I purhcased my last Russian SKS from him. I metioned to him that I had my CR ffl and he considered me a dealer and made me one heck of a deal. If he wasnt so far away id buy more from him. Nice place to deal with.
  22. Yeah, pretty much word for word is what my HCP instructor told us to do in a SD situation. I keep reminding myself of this all the time cause you just never know if your gonna have to make that call. One thing he did add though is, when you call 911 ask for the police as stated above but also ask for an ambulance weather the bad guy is wounded or dead. This helps you in the event that you did provide help for the victim.
  23. The wife and I too had a great time as well yesterday. It was nice to meet and BS with the Gents who showed up. I really am looking forward to another get together in the spring. I might even have place for us to meet, camp, shoot (its has an out door range) and if you wish to partake in the adult beverages there is also a bar. I'll have to do a little checking on the camping part but should be no problem.
  24. I agree and had some akward feelings about the purchase but, when he agreed to do the bill of sale that kinda sealed the deal for me. He would have even gone and done a transfer but due to his history he could not. So now the pistol is in good hands and I carry it every third week. Been a great shooter too.
