  1. It was a mighty close call. Lawmakers and their aides were on the hook for entering the Obamacare health exchanges and seeing their premiums soar several thousand dollars like the rest of us peons. But now the deal is made to let us pay a huge chunk of their tab as well.   http://www.politico.com/story/2013/08/capitol-hill-obamacare-crisis-solved-95100.html?hp=t1
  2. This earth is rapidly becoming square.
  3. Good goin', jcj....Business intelligence is an exciting field.  Think you'll ever get a chance to waterboard Donald Trump?
  4. The most famous Floridian made a brief appearance in Texas, long enough to get popped and warned for speeding. He told the officer that a gun was in the glove compartment. No problem....except for the liberals.   http://www.tmz.com/2013/07/31/george-zimmerman-speeding-traffic-stop-gun-firearm-texas/
  5. The grassroots stopped the gun control train and it can de-rail Obamacare, too, says the senator from Texas.   http://therightscoop.com/awesome-ted-cruz-explains-how-defeating-gun-control-is-a-template-for-how-we-can-defund-obamacare/
  6. PFC Bradley Manning was let off the big hook,  but he's facing a long stretch of hard labor for charges he's admitted to.   http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/30/justice/manning-court-martial/index.html
  7. Anyone who thinks Neil Armstrong planted the American flag on Mars is quite capable of running DHS.    http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=981
  8. I just got off the phone with Bob Norris, city editor of the Maryville Daily Times.  I told him that a lot of the mayors were bailing out of Bloomberg's MAIG.   He asked me to cite a news source about the exodus and I pointed him to FoxNews, which currently has the story in the No. 1 position of their website.  I asked if Mayor Taylor is thinking about changing his position.    "That is a good question," Norris told me.  "Thanks for calling it in."  Perhaps we'll see some ink on it in a day or two.
  9. Lead bullets should be oversized by about .001 to .002 to prevent the hot gas from cutting along the rifling channel and leaving melted lead in it's wake.
  10. Tensions are high in both North and South Korea as to what may happen today, marking 60 years since the armistice was signed to suspend hostilities between the two. But most American vets who fought in this little remembered conflict are proud of what they--and their fallen buddies--did to hold communism in check so long ago.   http://www.lohud.com/article/20130726/NEWS02/307260125/-Forgotten-war-Veterans-mark-60th-anniversary-Korean-armistice-video-?nclick_check=1   Here's a local story of some P.O.W.s who finally made it home.   http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/jul/27/korean-armistice-ended-fighting-for-many-pows-in/
  11.   Not a word.  I was going to pay a visit to the paper next week.  I used to work at the Houston Chronicle about 40 years ago, when journalism was more of an honorable profession.  Journalists today rely on press releases and dog and pony shows.
  12.   True, the Battlemug is only a patented design.  Dress a public domain mug up in an AK-47 outfit and maybe they'll sell like crazy.  Unless someone beat you to it.
  13.   Autsch! Sie haben Recht. Ich würde Merkel über Obama jeden möglichen Tag dauern.
  14.   You're just jealous because we won.  :taunt:
  15. It's also very logical.  The German word for "hydrogen" is Wasserstoff---material or "stuff" that makes water.
  16. Wunderbar!
  17. The conspiracy may be widening.  I called the managing editor of the Maryville Daily Times but got voice mail.  It's been three hours and no return call.  :hiding:
  18. I posted again.  I'll be looking for a black and white outside my door in the near future.

    Wasps!

I'm not a connoisseur of insect stings, but I'd rather be hit by a hornet than one of those red, black-winged wasps.   They do some serious hurtin'.  We had some hornets burrow a hole by the house foundation last year.  One of them got me as I was taking out the trash.  It was a faint little sting and I didn't really notice it until later.  Turns out there were about 20+ down in that nest hole.  But I'm especially on the lookout for red wasp scouts looking for a good place to hang a nest under the eaves or elsewhere.  I welcome them as I would a bloodthirsty home invader.
  20. You might have told the cops that the skunk attacked and you had to shoot in self defense.  The problem is finding a hoodie that small.
  21.   The Dems can turn the air blue with hate speech and name calling, but we have to remain calm and respectful.  I've often wondered if those original patriots took the wrong approach in fighting for America's future.

    Wasps!

I was out barefoot in the backyard just after a good rain.  I rounded a corner where the gutter drainpipe was and stepped on one of those red devils that the water had washed from his nest.  Dang, I wish I hadn't done that.  A baking soda poultice brought the swelling down and I was pain and itch free in a couple of days.
  23.   OS, I've been wondering what you might have in common with Obama.  :)
  24.   Done.  I wrote, "I'm not certain that a lot of folks know about Mr. Mayor's allegiance to the New York push for gun control. Perhaps he would like to tell everyone about it at the event."
  25.   The announcement says that the event has sponsors, but the city of Maryville is one of them.  This is where Bloomberg's money comes in, I reckon.
