I think what ever works for one person might not work for another, do what ever is comfortable to you, but try different techniques.

They hunt them in Arkansas, last time I was visiting my Grandparents he showed me a picture of a really big bear that was killed. So bears live in more places than people think.

I have seen a bear in Perry County, TN before. I was working on my pond when it ran to the top of a ridge, stopped then walked off. I asked the Warden and he said there have been other sightings. My grandmother said she has see them in the same area before, but when she was a teenager (she hasn't been to the pond in 30 years). My brothers who still live there said they saw one about 2 weeks ago, I need to set a camera up and try to catch it on film.

LEO generally don't serve them in the middle of the night unless it is someone they need to get of the streets and they know were he/she is and doesn't want him to slip away. If it is a civil warrant they serve them in the day or mail them to you. Most departments have a civil and criminal warrants division. Patrol officers also serve warrants for their areas of patrol to help with the overflow. As for the knock policy I guess it depends on the person/type of charge they are serving the warrant on.
