Multiple handgun purchases

Recommended Posts

It's true. ATF Form 3310.

Executed for all handguns purchased from a single dealer in a span of 5 consecutive business days. Lists the firearm by make, model, caliber, serial number. Also includes dates of transfer as well as your name, address, date of birth and all identifying information as it appears on the 4473.

A copy is faxed to the ATF by close of business, mailed to the local CLEA and kept with the 4473.

It's a bit of a pain to keep track of who bought what and when, but it has to be done.

I heard that if you don't send the form in the ATF will shove a living snake up your butt. Not really as punishment really... just for the stunning visual.

Is it supposed to be destroyed by the ATF after a certain period of time like 4473?

I guess even if it is though the Chief Law Enforcement Officer still would have a copy.

I don't know that I've ever seen anything that states how long it's kept by the ATF or the local Police/Sheriff.

I do know that some agencies are sort of "shy" about getting them and will at times even mail them back with angry letters to not send them any further forms.

This isn't anything new, I filled them out in '87 when I was working at a sporting goods store.

At that time it was for any multiples (handguns, rifles or shotguns).

How many do you think have been filed since 11/4??

I know of one 8 gun purchase that week (not me, unfortunatlyicon9.gif
