.410 Ammo:

Recommended Posts

Having a very hard time obtaining .410 in 7.5 shot. I see slugs, larger 5 & 6 shot & some #9 shot but anything 7.5 seems to appear then instantly vanish. Any sources? Walmart sonetimes laughs when you ask them.

I gave up on checking Walmart.. I think I scored like 2 boxes in 2 years. I just buy it on TargetSportsUSA.com now

As a big user of 16 gauge ammo I feel your pain.  I have converted over primarily to loading my own, but when I do buy factory, here are a few places I find occasionally good deals at:

rogers sporting goods, online supplier

recobs, another good online store

Georgia arms, another one

I wouldn’t be afraid to check the bulletin board at my gun club or any swaps they organize.  I’ve managed to buy 16 gauge wads at the last 2 events at mine.

good luck

Sportsman's warehouse and walmart seem to carry 12, 20, 28 ga all the time. 16 and 410 is mostly never in stock.

Thank you for the websites, I'll check them out. I looked, not much that they offer. A bag of shot would be $84 shipped at Recob's.

A MS member from a fishing website asked for my address. He had sold his 410 shotgun and had lots of reloading supplies. I received a box with a full gallon zip lock bag of spent 2 1/2" 410 hulls. A new bag of 250 and loose wads in the box. They filled a sandwich zip lock bag.
The auction house raffles firearms since they don't have license to sell. I told one of the workers to bring a 410 to raffle. Tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Doesn't matter what kind of gun it is, seems everyone buys the $20 deal. Ammo doesn't go cheap. Aguila 22 LR 38 and 40 gr $6 per box of 50 at last 4 auctions. I see it online for $2.15 per box.
Going to make a round trip today. Senatobia to the auction house to pick up stuff bought Tuesday night on zoom. Pawn shops in New Albany, Oxford and Batesville to see if a 410 3" single shot is in stock. Carry $100 cash for out the door sale.

I got a late start so it was to Senatobia and Batesville. Senatobia doesn't have a pawn shop anymore. The Batesville gun & pawn had 6 410 shotguns, 1 double barrel in wood, the others were semi and pumps in plastic camo for a starting price of $600. Their shotshells started at $19 per box.

Senatobia and Batesville walmarts had 410, #7 1/2, 2 1/2" for $16 per box.

I've been watching a few Utube videos about hand loading 410 hulls without a press. One shows using a Mec sizing ring, $19.90, ebay $18.34. Another shows using a washer drilled to the right size, which drill bit? 15/16" .4688, 31/64" .4844, 1/2" .5000. No number or letter bits in between.

I went to Harbor Freight and bought this.
Cartridge and Spiral Abrasive, 10 Pack
I used two 3/8" washers, a new 410 primed hull as a guide and my drill press. Sanded the hole until the hull slips into the washer.
