Yes I take part and yes they are ok to eat as long as they don't have any wolves(its a worm that gets in under the skin if they have them it will leave a hole in the skin and a sore. easily detected.

This is the best time to eat them. You can get out and get young squirrels that are tender. I am taking my 10 year old to get her some gun time before next deer season. She loves squirrel hunting cause I don't make her get up so early.

Not to hijack the thread but is a wolve the same as a warble?

Used to hunt them a bit...once I figured out how to skin the suckers without getting hair everywhere. I got some one time that must have had a 100% pinecone diet. Tasted like pine-sol. Was so bad that I deferred to Rabbits only.

If I could figure out how to cook them right I would probably do more squirrel hunting, but am spoiled on rabbit for now. May try some brunswick stew if I get bored and want to shoot some more tree rats.

Doesn't hurt the meat at all, though, the larva is under skin only.

I've eaten many a squirrel that had "wolves" in them.
