Lanyard beads

Anyone here actually rely on lanyard beads during camping or EDC use, or are they mostly for looks? I’ve seen some cool ones—everything from brass and titanium to hand-carved pieces—but I’m wondering if they serve a real purpose. Do they make gear easier to grab, especially with gloves or in low light? I’m considering picking up a few, maybe even the lanyard beads from Noblie I saw online, but I’d love to hear real-world experiences first. Who’s using them in the wild, and which ones do you swear by?

WOW, Noblie makes some good looking beads, and knifes, hand made and way out of my price range.

As far as a lanyard, I do not care for them, in my experience, the lanyard tends to hang on things as I walk by or as I'm using the instrument it is attached to.

No kidding, @RED333. I saw several that I didn't know I have to have, LOL.

I have lanyards on lots of knives, tools, keychains, etc to make them easier to grab out of the pocket. They do the job w/ or w/out a bead on it, but I like the lanyard to hang down out of a pocket so I can grab it easier. So for me I prefer a bead of some kind to weigh it down. Now with that being said I could put 3/8" nut on the end to get the desired effect, but I don't. I buy cool beads that I enjoy looking at instead. So there's both a little form and a little function involved, I guess.

@BigK is right.  A bead won’t do anything a 3/8 nut - or even a stopper knot on your paracord won’t do.  But, you should enjoy the gear your carry.  So, if it brings you joy, go for it.

I’ve run beads from CountyComm and LunchNW over the years.  Casey Lynch’s deep carry pocket clips are great - and it’s a true “made in the USA” small business.
