Used shield 9mm or new shield plus 9mm

So I've been looking to buy a second shield because 2 is one and I carry my original shield 9mm everywhere (including on long runs in the rain). I loved that it was cheap, light, and reliable. It helps that I shoot it very well.

Now I'm eyeing the shield plus but hesitating because they changed the trigger and cause I think they are still a bit too pricey ($400) for a gun im going to beat the tar out of.

Do I buy an old original shield or go for the plus? Is it really better than my old $250 shield? Does anyone own and shoot both? Thoughts?

I had the original Shield and liked it a lot.  When the SIG P365 came out, the added ammo capacity seemed too good to pass up, so I got a P365 and let the Shield go on to one of my sons.  When the Shield Plus came out, I went back to it and sold the SIG.  I now have both the 3.1-inch and 4-inch versions of the Shield Plus.  They have better triggers than the original Shields.  Otherwise, they shoot much the same.

I have both. I like the grip better on the old shield but the trigger is much better on the shield plus.  Having said that—I still shoot well with both so go figure.

If you are comfortable with the old shield and used to that trigger and can't shoot it well I would stick with what you've got.  IF you think you could benefit from the better trigger I would upgrade.  If you think you could benefit from a better trigger and would like some additional capacity go with the P365!

Something to consider is that you already have a holster and extra mags which word work with a used Shield.
