best days to hunt the rut

Recommended Posts

i have been thinking and planning my hunting out this year and i want to try and set dates that go along with the rut. i have heard that november 8-14 are good days for hunting the rut and the middle of octoberm. does anyone have "set dates" for the rut and how do they all come into the rut at the same time? also...does anybody notice a difference when it is a full moon the night before? it seems like the deer don't move as early in the morning. i have hunted for 2 year now and feel like i just started....there is a lot more to hunting then sitting in a stand! it's an art!

No the rut is based on the moon phase. So it changes every year. Also weather patterns have a lot to do with the daytime movement of bucks. Personally I hunt really hard from the last week of October thru Thanksgiving. This gives you options, normally it's the end of pre-rut to the start of the post rut.

Rut in south TN wasn't going good till opening weekend of gun season, weekend before Thanksgiving. Hope for cold weather! That's what gets them in the mood! Two years ago I was still seeing new rubs in January and I don't think the rut ever kicked into full gear as the winter was so mild.
