It is a program so we can talk to each other while playing.

Download teh program and install it.

Once open hit the right arrow by username.

Hit new and make a user name and hit OK

Then hit the right arrow beside server.

Hit new. Name the server whatever you want and hit ok.

Type in the hostname you quoted and the port and for password hit thanksgiving.

Now. you should hit connect back off of the main window.

you can then change some of the setup options if you want but thats not neccesary.

Think of it as having a conference call going with your buddies while playing a video game. Ventrilo works outside of the game itself(separate program running in the background) so you and your friends can talk to each other(whether your on the same team or not), but all the other strangers your playing with have no clue you have communication going. The sound quality is also typically much better then in game speech. So that being said...JOIN UP! We played til about 2am last night...damn Daniel wouldnt quit dropping Predator Missiles on my head.

Ventrilo certainly adds a lot of fun to the game. Especially when one of your team mates gets put in the other team for a round.

is it something that is constant on or do you bind a key to it just like the ingame speech?

you bind it to a key. I got mine set on the mouse 4 button. Then I have Z bind'd for the Call of Duty game speak for the strangers on my team i might need to communicate with.

default bind is left cntrl key. I would change it. you hit setup and on the left side of the window that opens click in teh "hotkey" box and press what you want to use to talk.

Anyone know how to check out your Steam achievements? I keep getting random little pop ups telling me what achievement I unlocked, but not what it means or how close I am to other achievements. I found the CoD achievements, but that's not what I'm looking for.

We played some Spec Ops last night on the suspension bridge and thats pretty damn fun...even though I did have to be revived twice.

i found out how those guys got on that 'other' building (not the one the crane gets you on) on the highrise map...anybody wants to go in there tommorow afternoon in a private match we'll check it out.

My hard drive went KABOOM! Just got done redownloading and installing the game. I'll probably be on it a bit.
