The Rugers are nice .22's but the Walther P22 is just plain fun. Inexpensive as well. It gives a good feel and funtionality is close to a bigger auto. The Ruger 22/45 and the Walther P22 are set up close to the same way the pistol one would normally carry and that's a benefit for cheap practice.

I had a very nice Ruger Mk II target with the 5.5 bull barrel and Pachmeyer rubber wrap around grips, but I made the mistake of letting my wife shoot it. She put the claim on it and I only get to see it now when it's time to clean it.

My father-in-law has the Walther P22 and it is a blast to shoot, my mom has a target Buckmark and it is a lot more accurate than the Walther, but more finicky with ammo. I own a Heritage Rough Rider with the 6.5" barrel, and it is a lot of fun, goes to the range with me just about every time I go, and has the .22 mag cylinder with it (like my dad's Ruger Single Six, which is another great .22 revolver), which I like since I can shoot pretty much any .22 ammo through it from CBs to .22 magnums.
