Lee hand press setup

Well after a lot of lurking, reading and studying i gave in to impending hand-loading addiction. I reloaded 20ga as a child with my dad and have longed to start loading for my 308. I bought three reloading books and read them cover to cover a few times. I budgeted some extra cash and finally made the leap.

I decided on the hand press setup to avoid space issues with the wife and to ensure i liked the hobby. I got a scale for safety, and a few other small items and components. I have made my first 100 rounds and shot 25. So far so good. I'm not lighting the world on fire with small groups yet but i'm working up slow and have faith i will find that magic recipe. I thought i post this for all the people on the fence about starting. Non loaders- read up on loading and give it a try. Loading is almost more fun than shooting. Be careful and remember safety first.

That's a very nice looking wooden base your scale is sitting on. I assume you made it?

I did. Well there is not one single surface in my house that is level. Being that i"m new to loading i wanted to be CERTAIN that my powder measure was accurate. I went to Lowes and threw this together. I would recommend 3 screws instead of 4 but it works well. I was going to hack a board down when i found an address plaque. I have less than $20 in to the base. It maintained level for my whole loading session. Here is a better pic. PB030374.jpg

i have the same handheld press by lee and also have rbcs single stage press that you have to bolt to a solid table. it seems that i only use the handheld because i can

move around, and it takes up less room. i keep my stuff in a tool box on the table if i have to use the table for something else it can be thrown in a closet. i load 9mm 45lc 45acp and 30-06.
