Not trying to be a smart @ss but it's worth what you paid for it. As the saying goes, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay you for it. Unless you're trying to flip it, don't worry if you paid too much or got a good deal. Just enjoy shooting it.

You got a great gun. Worth? Does it matter? The Service -six/Security-six was one of the finest .357 ever produced. Ruger pulled out all the stops to make them. They wanted to break into the police market. Unfortunatly, semis were starting to move into the field. A day late for Ruger, but a real treat for us. Value is as stated, $350-$450 depending on condition, finish, barrel length. The fact that it's a '76 model makes no difference on the value, although mine is a '76 and I've managed to rustle up Mk I and a M77 of the same year, maybe someone, sometime will be willing to offer a premium for the set, but why would I sell? I love my Rugers. Shoot the bejeesus out of it, and never sell it!

As been said above it is better to know what a firearm is worth before the purchase especially if you plan on selling.Even if I buy something with the intent on selling it I only buy things I like that way if I get stuck with them not a big deal. Also remember the profit is made on the buy not on the sell.

The carcano is probably worth about $150-200 unless its something special (more) or sporterized (less), the ruger is worth $350-450, I just picked up a security six last weekend for $325 and figured I did pretty well.
