I impulsively purchased a .270 last year and I wish I would have waited and bought the .243 like I initially wanted. I think in TN a .243 is more then adequate and like others have said the versatility of the cartridge is huge. I had my right shoulder reconstructed a couple years back and would kill (not literally) for a lighter load.

There may be others but I'm certain Remington makes a "managed recoil" load for the .270. It's listed with a 115gr bullet at 2710 which is roughly a warm load out of a .257 Roberts. Something to look into anyway.

Ok, but you have to teach me how to make them consistent so that I can drive tacks with them.
Just make them all the same, and shoot them all from the same position, and they will all go in the same hole... I am learning to do this myself and its not easy, better reloading equipment (more $$) would help but its possible to do by hand if you do not mind the tedious measure/weighing of each component for each round. I'm headed toward that kind of consistency. I bought an RCBS Chargemaster, but you can do it with a good scale and trickler. Add a micrometer bullet seater and you're on the way.

I'll look into that thanks
