What about matte-ing the stainless? I personally like the two tone look on 1911's. Matte the rounds and polish the flats is my preferred finish if dealing with a stainless 1911.

i agree with GunTroll, the stainless looks great with shiny sides and dusty tops and bottoms. another look i really like is a lighter green lower/stainless upper. as for trying it yourself vs. getting it done by a guy that already does it to pay the bills, if you like the gun and want to try refinishing for the first time on it , send it to the guy that already does it to pay the bills!

nothing to add, just waiting to BTT and see if you get any advice on where to get yours Cerakoted. I got a couple that need rebluing: Cerakote sounds like a smarter choice.

The smarter choice depends really on its intended use and mostly opinion on looks. My opinion is bluing looks way better than Cerakote ever will even if done by the best coater in the biz. Nothing looks better than a deep highly polished blue steel 1911 (stainless excluded of course. See above post. But even stainless can be blued) . But....that flawless finish won't look that way for long if it gets holster/concealed everyday carry use, and our weather is not the best for bluing. Cerakote would combat both of those better for it should wear and last longer. Can't have it both ways I suppose. Beauty vs. functionality/durability.....horrible choice's really IMO.

I dropped 2 pistols off to be Cerakoted earlier this week. I went with a stainless steel and black on both. One will have black controls and slide with a stainless frame, the other will be reversed. I'll link back here with some pics and the price when I pick them up in about a week.
