Any hope for a decent/well priced semi automatic .308?

My father had two CETME's. Both looked and shot great. One was a little finicky with different mags but it still worked. I know Century pretty much butchered 75% of these rifles during assembly. And from what I can tell they have stopped making the CETME rifles. Maybe there's a good used one out there? I would love to have a dependable G3 clone style rifle (or FN FAL) but around $500. Is it realistic to find a used one of these, or have they dried up in the market? Any other input is greatly accepted!

Maybe I'm asking too much. :)

A simple Google search yielded several CETMEs for under $500. They are still out there. And while I have seen some of the Century horror story rifles, most have been reliable, accurate shooters. In the 'under $500' category, I would stick with the CETME. You MIGHT get real lucky and find a used FAL in that range. It depends how hard you look. Century sold a boatload of FALs for under $500, and you might find one of them who doesn't know how much the price has gone up. I've seen a couple in the past year at local gun shows. Usually being carried by someone with a sad look on their face.
