Knob Creek Machine Gun Shoot?

Recommended Posts

Any of you guys ever attended one of these? Machine Gun Shoot | Knob Creek Gun Range Machine Gun Shoot | Famous Machine Gun Shoot | Knob Creek Gun Range

One of my contractors invited me to go up there with him next month, but I'll be in Atlanta until the 14th that week... and was wondering if it was really worth driving a few more hours on the trip home to be there. Sounds fun, as I've never shot a machine gun before...

It's an experience that every gun lover should have. sort of like going to Mecca. Lots of normal stuff and some down right unusual stuff will be there and be fired. I think you can still shoot some of them for a fee. There was talk of doing away with that due to liability issues. The night shoot is particularly fun to watch. It's also a huge gun show of sorts with many of the mail order vendors there and usually some pretty good deals. Don't look for any .22 target pistols, it's more of a military stuff show, lots of parts, ammo, nothing like any of the gun shows around here. Take some hearing protection and shooting glasses. And the people watching is pretty good too.

Cool... guess I'll have to bring my son too! I doubt that I'll get out of the house without him once he hears the words "machine gun"!

Atta boy!

Well, before you jump at the prices, think.

NO, a handful of .223's aren't worth $30-50 or whatever it costs now.....BUT the smile on you and your kids face when you put them through M249 SAW is worth every penny. If you were going to pay that kind of money all the time...No it ain't worth it. But ONCE, JUST ONCE...ohh yeah because the chances of you ever getting to shoot a REAL M60 or a BAR, M14, MG42.....(the list goes on) are slim to none. So do it. At the least, get some photos of your boy behind MaDuece!

If you have seen a machine gun on tv/movies/new/military/etc. chances are pretty good that you will see a real one up there. I have been going twice a year since 2002. Mostly looking for parts and/or accessories. But the real reason I go is to see friends that I only get to see twice a year. We sit around and swap stories, and show off any new toys were have been working on. There are good deals up there, you just have to know what you are looking for and dig around all the booths.

It is a big boost to the local economy up there. I walk through our hotel with gun cases and no one gives me a second glance. And I have seen three guys working on a M60 in the hallway one time. We will only be up for Thurs and Friday this year because the UT/LSU game falls on that weekend.
