3-Gun Shoot Question

Recommended Posts

I am considering attending the ORSA 3-Gun on 10/16 and it will be my first event of this type, only my second "competition"

My question is in regards to the rifle portion.

1. What kind of rifles are used?

2. What distances are you typically shooting?

3. What is the ammo load per magazine?

Thanks,

AJ

I've seen guys show up with AK's, Mini 14's, FN Fal's. The preferred would be an AR. It's just a more reliable and competitive platform IMO. Our longest Bay is 50 yds and that's really stretching it. Usually around 30-35 yds is the longest norm but with tough target presentations. I run a 45 rd Magpul from time to time if the stage calls for it but 99% of the time you can use a 30 rd mag and be fine. Just carry a spare on your belt just in case you have an "Oh ****!" moment. The biggest thing is show up and have fun ! See you then.
