Sig Sauer 1911 RCS which Wilson Combat magazine?

***If you do order the Match Grade CMC officers 7 round mag that was recommended in this thread, make sure that you request the Power Mag + followers for them. The standard steel followers that come with the standard match grade mag, can possibly ruin an alloy frame. Luckily, I found out before my magazines had been shipped from CMC, but could have been a problem!***

So, I recently purchased a Sig 1911 RCS and am wanting to scoop a couple of extra mags. I have heard rave reviews on the Wilson Combat stuff, but want to be sure that I get the correct size for my RCS. This is my first 1911 so I will probably have a few more questions. Also does anyone have a link to where they can be bought at the best price? Thank you in advance.

Give this a look:

1911 Magazine Analysis Part 2: Read My Lips

This is an analysis of the top 1911 magazines on the market. You'll see there are quite a few variations in the basic design. The long and short of it from this article is that the Wilson 47D is seen as an excellent magazine because it "bypasses" the controlled feed system of the 1911, and hides out-of-spec guns and other problems that a 1911 could have. If you really want a Wilson mag, that's the one to get.

Otherwise, the author finds that magazines using the "hybrid feed lips" work the best WITH the controlled feed system. These are generally colt-brand magazines (manufactured by Checkmate, I think?) and are cheaper than the 47Ds. If your 1911 is in spec then these magazines, in my opinion, are the ones to get. I run them in all 3 of my 1911s (A colt, a springfield, and a kimber) and they run flawlessly.

As far as size goes, a full size magazine will work in a 5 inch and 4/4.25 inch 1911. The officer size 1911 needs a smaller magazine.

Here's the hybrid feed lip mag direct from Checkmate:

I believe that the RCS has a Officer's size grip, so you probably want to look at the 47.OX or 47.OXC.

One thing I will warn you about, the Sig mags worked better in my C3. I had one Wilson mag and a couple of Chip McCormick mags that wouldn't lock the slide back after the last round.

What about this one?

55310 - Wilson Combat 1911 Service Magazine .45 ACP 7 Rounds Stainless

Will it fit flush, and work with the more compact 1911? The price seems right.

No I think that is for a full size 1911

here are the options in wilson combat 7rnd for the officers size frame

7 Round

Those all will stick out the bottom a little.

this is all they have that will fit flush

1911 Service Mag Plus | .45 ACP | Compact | 6 Round | SS-Wilson Combat

That is why I recommended the Chip Mccormick's they are just as good as wilson combat but offer a flush 7rnd for the officers size and is only 25 dollars and they offer free shipping.

This is my c3 with a full size wilson combat 8rnd mag in I use at the range
