Cerakote in Nashville?

Recommended Posts

Any one have any experience getting their gun done in or around Nashville? My dad has a 2" snub with a worn out parkerized finish that we'd like to spruce up a bit.

I've been tempted to get a can or two and try my hand at this, however were talking about a gun my dad wore the original bluing off of followed by the replacement finish so this is a meaningful piece that I would like to see professionally done.

Any recommendations? Good feedback, bad feedback, ideas?

Also open to other options so long as they are durable and clean looking.

Thanks guys

Why not get it re-parkerized or re-blued? Have it done professionally and it should last just as long as it had. IIRC, they have ways of doing blueing that are heavier and more durable than most. I think parkerizing can be done heavier too.

I only have experience with Duracoat. Right off I thought it was great, but after six months of EDC duty, the paint started chipping bad. I could scrape it off with my finger nail.

If it is to be a piece that'll be passed down through the generations, I'd go for a new pro blue job or re-parkerizing.

I would love to get it re-parked, actualy that would be ideal but I haven't seen or heard of anyone local to do it. I hear Garand specialist should be set up to do it.

Thanks for the info so far fellas, its really appreciated.

try midtn gunsmithing. He is cerakoting my Remington 700P as we speak (well I dropped it off yesterday so he has it). He is a great guy to work with too so feel free to e-mail him with all your questions (like I did).

brandon@midtngunsmithing.com

I believe he will Parkerize/blue it so just check with him on what you should do.

I highly recommend Brandon (brandon@midtngunsmithing.com) He did my SIG 228 and it came out awesome! It gets great reviews from everyone who touches it and I couldn't be more happy with it. Very Reasonably priced too

Brandon used to be a Vendor here but apparently didn't see the value in continuing. He sure does get a lot of business from TGO though.

It's a shame that folks don't check with our supporting vendors for things like this first. D&T, The Armory... both support this site.

I was unaware of his former vendor status when I made the call. FWIW, I did mention that I became aware of his business and rep for good work through TGO. Tell ya what, I will mention it again when I drop it off along with maybe a not so subtle hint that he should reconsider that course of action.

He is local to me, has a very good rep and the price quoted sounds great to me.

No offense to any of the vendors here, I really appreciate this site and the people who make it happen.

I don't recall it being a business decision by Brandon to leave TGO - - - Wasn't he banned from TGO over some post he wrote about what Koreans' would refer to as eating Gaegogi.

Getting back on topic......

TrickyNicky, make sure to post pics of your dad's subbie once you get it re-parked.

No, I don't recall that at all but I'm also not the sole person policing threads as I'm sure you already know.
