Well the blue collar thing, a man is what he is, if he misrepresented himself that's one thing, but if he's clearing up a misconception I can't fault him for that.

As for China, their economy has been on the boom. I'm not sure what aspect he is using to qualify a city as "great", but China isn't some backwater anymore, at least not in the cities. Perhaps he could have said it differently though.
