Might oughta stock up on Twinkies!

I just saw that Hostess is in bankruptcy court - again. Those who would approach the zombie apocalypse like Woody Harrelson's "Zombieland" character, 'Tallahassee' might want to think about stocking up, just in case, as 'the last box of Twinkies anyone will ever enjoy' may come even before the zombies get here.

You could also do Little debbies, especially if you're wanting food to store long term.

One of my wife's student gave her a Little Debbie honeybun for Christmas of 2010. I put it away out of curiosity just to see how long it would keep. As of today, no mold or other crud. It looks a little sketchy but I believe in as EOTWAWKI situation it's still edible.

Yum.....

In some of the treats, not only the possible presence of preservatives better than embalming fluid, but supposedly bacteria can't grow in presence of very high sugar concentrations, because the sugar causes osmosis which destroys the bacteria cell walls.

I prefer Zingers. The plastic coating "frosting" is very addictive.

Sadly, I see no reason the Twinkie and other treats should be losing out, unless they were grossly mismanaged.

I HATE SNOWBALLS!!

Aw com'on. A good pink Snowball now and then is good for you. And even the chocolate ones are great. Just look at me...they are good for you. On second thought, scratch the look at me part and just take my word for it.

Zombieland reference. It's not the taste, it's the texture.

Twinkies have more than once saved my life (or it felt like it). I take them with me on my bicycle training rides and have had to resort to them to get me back home when I'm some 25 to 30 miles out from the house. The sugar and the carbs....you just can't beat them. They are stored in my B.O.B as well....they seem to last forever but I end up eating them and putting a new box into its place monthly. Like Tallahassee said...them things got an experation date. Hopefully another company will take up the slack and keep them spongy yellow little bastards on the shelf. Life just wouldn't be the same.

The really bad thing is that I recently discovered (because they are a fairly new product, apparently) Twinkies with a CHOCOLATE creme filling. I like them better than the original.
