Smoky Mt Gun Collectors show Aug. 10 & 11

Recommended Posts

at the Kerbella Temple in south Knoxville. 9:00 am both days. I think this will be the 3rd show (semi-annual) at this location.

Only about 100 tables - restricted to guns, knives, or related items. A few dealers, but mostly hobbyists having a good time. (Meaning probably not the best place to shop for bulk reloading supplies & ammo)

Usually an ad in Thur. & Fri. Knox News Sentinel with a coupon. This is a non-profit show - previous show profits went to the Wounded Warrior Project if I'm not mistaken. Can't find my mailer right now. If you want more details, feel free to ask.

Wonder why they would give a dime to WW. If you dont know why, ask Tom Gresham, he's on here.

And I have to wonder why any Christian Church would give them a dime.

When you state your position, then backlash causes you to "alter" your position, its still your position.

Plenty of really good charities for that out there. I donate but designate through CFC, have for 33 years. I wouldnt give one penny to these people. I would rather give it to a charity that takes wounded vets hunting and fishing, sends their families on vacation, etc.

You probably did.  It dates back to 1959.  It was big when it was at the lower level of the Holiday Inn at the World's Fair site.

When I first came to Knoxville in '66, Kerbela seemed to gunshow central for the area, dunno if it was all Smoky Mtn. Club or general promoters, too, but seemed to be the latter. I don't remember any being held at the Jacob's Bldg back then, but memory may be faulty.

The Holiday Inn wasn't built until early 1980's.

Looking it up, the SMGC moved from the Kerbella Temple to the Holiday Inn in 1982.  I guess right after the World's Fair.

At some point after that, I think it may have been the Shriners themselves that started their own semi-annual show at Kerbella & it ran for several years.

I don't remember when Mike Holloway started the Jacobs Building show.  As you know, he recently sold out to R.K.
