Do you carry with a round in the chamber?

Recommended Posts

I carry a revolver so I know my answer. As most people carry a semi-automatic I was thinking of getting one. A couple of weeks ago I was out of town with some friends. One of them also have carry permit and it turned into " you show me yours, I will show you mine". When he handed me his gun he said " there is not a round in the chamber". I didn't think to much about it then, but some days latter I realized , if he had to use his gun in a bad situation he would have to pull the slid to load the chamber. With a revolver you pull the trigger. I am not sure under a stressful situation if you want an extra step. How do most carry with or without a round in the chamber? Safety on of coarse.

To answer your question, yes I carry with one in the chamber. I carry an XD so there is no safety to switch off before firing. A gun without one in the chamber is worthless.
