Does a AR15 lower have to be marked handgun for a AR15 pistol?

Just curious, I was looking at lowers online the other night. Pistol and Rifle lowers did not seem to have any different markings. I always assumed a pistol lower had to be marked so the lower and upper would not be in question as a unfinished SBR. Thanks for looking.

Are you required by law to have a pistol lower marked PISTOL? no.

Are there some that feel it's a good idea? yes.

So for instance I decided to make an Ar-15 pistol out of my lower I just purchased, I would still be in compliance with the law? If that is the case, then I could "feasably" buy 1 lower, a rifle upper, and a pistol upper and have both for just a little more than one?

Thanks Joe, I was thinking it just made more sense to have it marked pistol. Just takes any questions out of what it is built and registered as. I had never really paid alot of attention to the pistol lowers before but as i was looking at them it just seemed odd they were not marked any different than rifle lowers.
