Anybody Shoot Tula Brass Maxx?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used it & what did you think? I've always avoided steel cased Tula like a plague, but my local WM just got in a ton of 100 round boxes of 9mm Tula Brass Maxx for $23 & since they're sold out of everything else I picked up a box. Any positives or negatives? Thanks.

I have a couple of the 100 rnd "jars" WalMart has been selling but have not broken into it yet. I believe it's made in Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Igman ammunition factory.

That's all I got.

I shot a couple of 50 rnd boxes of 9mm, box said Brass Cased , boxer primed, non-corrosive, Made in Italy.

Shot fine, was accurate and I had no issues with it.

My understanding is the stuff in  50 rounds boxes is made in Italy by Fiocchi.  I'll never know because the price is ridiculous for 9mm, even at WalMart.  The 100 round Bosnian jars are barely tolerable at the price they charge.  Either way I've got a couple and will shoot them up when it's their time in the rotation.

Maybe I'm just not fussy enough, but the stuff in the 100rd tub is on par with WWB or Federal red box, IMHO. Sure, it's a bit dirty in a large, black flaky kinda way, but so what? It seems just as accurate as any cheap FMJ and it caused no trouble in over 1,200 rds with no cleanings between 3 or 4 of my 9mm pistols. The brass has been fine for reloading with consistent primer pockets (unlike the tight WWB cases) and good case life so far. I love the little tub and have kept them all to reuse with my reloaded ammo.

I much prefer it to anything in a steel case and the Monarch brass stuff at Academy.

Found this on Tulammo's website...

Technical description BrassMAXX 9×19 FMJ
Bullet weight (grains) 115
Muzzle Velocity (fps) 1345
Energy (ft/lbs) 462

Looks like some hot stuff, which is a postive IMO. The round container of 9mm I bought says "made in Bosnia/Herzegovina" too.

I shot some of this yesterday and today it was the most dirtiest ammo I've shot, small brass flakes all over inside and out. but on a positive note all 100 rds shot fine, I also clean my guns after use. don't know if the brass flake will be a issue or not with the internals i thought i would try it out probably won't buy again. what do you all think can the flakes hurt the internals.
