A tazer is brilliant!

I looked around for things to use. I tried the electronic grill igniter but wanted more juice. I had a taser in the safe I have had for years so I taped it to the outside and ran wires from the contacts to two bolts drilled in from each side with about a .75 inch gap inside the combustion chamber. Works great.

Made one out of 4140 seamless tubing and 1018 for the reducer union between body & barrel and the end cap was cold rolled as well. TIG welded together and used a coleman lantern lighter for ignition. I used many things for propellant including gasoline, ether and nitromethane. Nothing worked better than a cutting torch though. Turn the acetylene and oxygen valves about half open, hold the end cap up so there was very little gap, wait several seconds then screw the cap on quickly. It was quite powerful and would launch a tennis ball half way to Mars.

Was in on a build years ago using the same fuel, we used wood bung plugs, till we put a hole in the side of the shop, it was heavy sheet metal.

Boss was a bit pissed till he saw how we did it.

Remember an incident years ago when there was a report of gunfire or strange noises at some apartment complex on the outskirts of town around midnight.  On the way there another call came in with a report of a broken window and a big hole in the wall in an occupied apartment......you can probably tell where this is going.

In the apartment in question the gal living there is freaked out because she didn't know what happened, the window just exploded and there was a big hole in wall.  On the wall there was juice and bits and in the hole...yup, about 1/2 a potato that survived the trip through the window and burrowed into the drywall.  About two minutes later there were a couple deep "booms" in the distance and they found these early-20's guys out in a field with what would best be described as a potato howitzer.  You could see the fireballs when this thing was being fired.  They had to pay for the window but didn't get cited for anything as far as I remember.  So glad I didn't get stuck dealing with that one, I'd have had a hard time not laughing my ass off.
