Johnson City TN - what's with it?

Looking on eBay at "adult" air guns. Reading through the "no we can't ship to..." I saw all the usual suspects PLUS Johnson City TN. What's with that?

Supposedly okay now, but guess word hasn't gotten around.

 

Sportsman's Guide wouldn't ship a 4" knife to TN until recently either, for example.

Good ole JC...liberal university town nestled in the hills of TN.  A recent line of mayors that make Bloomberg look like Charlton Heston when it comes to matters 2A.  Yes, they finally lifted their ban on BB guns, air rifles, and the like.  But, if you visit there, beware - they chose to opt-out of parks carry by resolution, but few (if any) of the parks have even the first hint of a posing to that effect.

I lived there a for few years going to College.  Beautiful area, but I agree on the liberalism.  Heck back then I was not too much into politics, and don't think I even owned a handgun.  I was very naive, but quickly could tell of the rub off from the college elite to the local scene.   That was 25-30 years ago.

Lived there on and off for 4 years while my wife was in school. I never knew about the airgun ban until I day I went to Walmart to browse some models. I was floored. I love the TriCities though, such a beautiful place. Never seemed to "liberal" just living there. I avoided local politics as much as possible

The good thing about JC is that you are 5 minutes from the country, and the majority of voters in Washington co. have sense enough not to buy into the liberal bull.
