Powder availability

Recommended Posts

I was in Columbia today, Steve's Gun and Archery had an 8# jug of Hodgdon's Clays for $169. Had some Red Dot also. Glad it's available, I just couldn't bring myself to buy yet. A few more days of Trap and Skeet and I will either have to pay up or quit. What is the powder picture like for you?

Hit and miss, when I buy I buy lots so that if it gets lean I don't get left high and dry.  At one time I bought whatever I could find and used it to trade if I couldn't use that particular powder.  I have a pound of blue dot I am now stuck with and cant find anyone to trade with...  It is so limited in its uses...

For years I've had a standard buying technique. Every time I ran into a pound of powder that I normally use I would pick it up whether I needed it or not. One pound never cut into anyone elses buying and I never had to worry about running out. Bass Pro has around 4 lbs of H4198 but they want $32 a lbs. I can get it at another shop for $28 so the next time I go in I'll pick up one more. I still have around 9 lbs of Varget lying around so I haven't pick any of that up. I did buy a lb of Unique from Bass Pro and it came in today. I've never used it for my Sharps before and wanted to give it a try. I bought and had it shipped to the store so I didn't have to pay the hazmat shipping fees. $28 + tax.

Not one Reload, powder, projectiles or Primer vendor at the Memphis Gun show Yesterday March 08.  I did notice at one booth 3 100 count boxes of Winchester small Pistol primers for $14.00 per box.
