  1. I had a difficult time deciding whether I wanted to order the 19 or 23. Being that I have the 26 and enjoy shooting it, I chose the 19. It will do everything I want a handgun to do and I know I will like it as much as I do it's little brother. A lot of people say get the 23 and if you don't like it you can change the barrel and go with 9mm. I like 9mm so it would have been stupid for me to try something else. I ordered directly from Glock and am taking advantage of their LE discount for retired military. Just my .

    LCR or 642?

+1 Buy the 442 this time. It is the same as 642 other than color and it'll be different for you. Give the LCR time to prove itself before you jump on the bandwagon.
  3. Gander Mtn. in Jackson has plenty of everything except 9mm and.380. Walmart in Humboldt has everything but .380 as of 8:00pm on the 8th. They had 10 boxes of Blazer 9mm, but no Winchester.
  4. I also pledge never to inform. Never have and never will. The people that choose to OC will be the ones to get the restaurants properly posted. (Out of sight, out of mind)
  5. Wow!!! What a splendid opportunity to help educate our legislators on the joys of gun ownership. Good job Joe. I was in the National Guard and served at the Tullahoma Tng. site for about 6 months back in the early 90's. This thread bought back a bunch of old memories.
  6. Thanks for all of the replies. I just feel like it is something that needs keeping up with for ones own piece of mind and the resell thing. For those that go through thousands of rounds a year, I can understand not trying to keep up with that. You,re always reading on these gun forums that " I've put xxx rounds through my xxx without a hiccup." I've got another 9mm coming, so I'm gonna have to come up with another method of keeping up with the number of rounds down range.
  7. That's good advice about not trying to catch a dropped Glock or any other handgun. Most people would instinctively grap for it if it was falling, but that would be the worse thing you could do. Great tip. Keep them coming.
  8. I have two Toyotas and take them to Toyota dealership to have oil changes. A few years ago I took one to independant shops, but it costs as much as dealerships and they didn't inspect other things. Who knows your vehicle better than a shop that sells that brand? Also there's the responsibility of recycling the oil if you do it yourself. You might be able to save a few bucks if you do it yourself, but if you are going to keep a vehicle long term, you may be money ahead by having it maintained by the professionals. Just my .
  9. How do you keep up with the number of rounds that you put through your handguns? I only have one 9mm, so I number each box of ammo that I buy. Presently I have boxes numbered 600 through 1200. The next time I go to the range I will carry box number 600 and 700. Is there a better way to keep up with the numbers? Do you keep a log with each gun? What info do you keep on your handguns?
  10. There's a new channel on 605 that has "Personal Defense" which is one of my favorites. I used to have the outdoor channel until they took it away. But now this 605 has some of the same programs that the OD had. I'm happy once again.

    Are they gouging?

I was looking at Buds Gun Shop and they were auctioning off several items. One of the items was a Luger LCP. It was bid up to $395 with an hour or two left. Are some people that desperate?
  12. Congratulations on getting your permit. Now be safe. Speaking of ammunition, I was in WalMart in Hernando, MS. on Friday and they only had three boxes of 9mm ammo.
  13. This video announces a new weapons system capable of firing 16,000 rounds per second. Now whether to believe it or not??? Newweapon.wmv (video/x-ms-wmv)
  14. I carry the S&W 442 in a pocket holster. It is easy to conceal in a pair of baggy jeans.

    Gran Torino

My neighbor went to see "Gran Torino" and said he would rate it a 12 on a 1 to 10 scale, but he didn't like the way it ended. I'm going to have to check it out for myself.

    LCP 380

If you want one you will probably have to get on a wating list(get on several if you don't have to put any money up) somewhere(s). We went by Parkway Gun and Pawn Saturday and got on their list with no obligation. There are 25 names ahead of us. By the way PG&P is in Jackson.
  17. I don't want any part of that. I tried eating them once, but just couldn't get past the look, however I did take a bite or two.
  18. I just read an article in the Commercial Appeal that said Jimmy Naifeh was expecting to win House Speaker again. He thinks some of the Republicans will cross party lines and vote for him. In these tough economic times he says he is the man for the job. I pray he is wrong, wrong, wrong.
  19. I got there early Sat. morning and browsed around for about an hour, but didn't find any bargains. That was the first one that I had ever been to and also the last.
  20. The three turnovers definitely did them in. They also had way too many penalties, but they could have overcome them without the turnovers. Sometimes I think that when they know they are in the playoffs, and they hold their starters out of the last game, they lose their chemistry and mental sharpness. But, what do I know?
  21. We bought a LG front loader about a year ago and so far so good. When it's not in use we leave the door open so it can dry out good. A couple of months ago it began to smell, then we found the cleaning cycle on the washer and it cured the smell. The front loaders are more economical than the top-loaders and I understand that they are going to discontinue manufacture of the top loaders.
  22. My understanding is that the state will have to change the law to make it legal to carry in State Parks. Then you can also carry in the federal parks in that state. If this happens, someone will probably screw it up by shooting at the wildlife.

    Speaking of Taxes

You didn't mention one of my favorite taxes. It's called TN satellite programming sales tax. Cable TV pushed this tax through in several states, they say to even the playing field. BULL HOCKEY!!!
  24. I keep a j frame in the bedroom and it would be hard to get to if someone kicked in my front door while I was stretched out in the recliner. I could stash handguns all over the house, but then I would have a security issue when I leave home. Although we live in a very peaceful and nice neighborhood with people at their homes most of the time, I never leave home without having my firearms locked in the safe(except the one I'm carrying).
