  1. Been carrying my Xd's chambered. Haven't stepped up to 1911 yet, I feel like I need more training with it before I start carrying cocked and locked. Not a gun trust thing, it's a me thing.
  2. being new to carry I'm always checking to make sure I'm properly concealed when I want to be
  3. I could definitely drive like that
  4. I just end up on guns America or buds, auctions get on my nerves
  5. Got mine in the mail today, took exactly 14 days from the day of finger prints. Including weekends
  6. I went with the Springfield 1911 loaded a1 for my first 1911. I'm really happy with it. I ordered the gun online on guns america, when it came to me the front sight was extremely crooked, and like many 1911's, the feed ramp was extremely resistant with JHP's. Springfield customer service paid for the shipping both ways, fixed the sight, polished about everything that could be polished, and I swear the trigger feels 10x better. Thing feels like a million bucks. As much as I am pleased with the pistol, Springfield's customer service is even more impressive. Just ask for Debbie.
  7. very nice! It's a fine piece. I fondled one at the franklin gun shop the other day.
  8. our handpump was around 1200 I believe, 350 ft down.
  9. I think that is called a bow drill. The hand drill is like he said, straight rod used between the palms. Like so:
  10. LOL I completely agree with you. Fire steel and fire proof matches alOng with dryer lent and vasoline soaked cotton balls accompany me pretty much every time I venture out of the backyard. However, as a recreationa skilll, and from a minimalistic standpoint. It's a skill I would like to say I have accomplished.
  11. I'm looking for some tips on fire starting using the old school hand drill method. Specifically, what would be the best wood to use in our Tn location. My first thoughts are dried cedar or poplar for the board. Possibly a straight piece of cedar for the drill, but again, I'm not sure on the stick part. Any experience or ideas greatly appreciated
  12. Reviews of the ATI stock are usually pretty good, thought about it for the m44. From my own research, ATI is the best option for synthetic.
  13. We went to Sevier range about a month or so ago on vacation at PF. Staff was really great, they werent very busy so they let us stay as long as we wanted. Big thumbs up to those guys.
  14. as far as the crossbreed and sub xd goes, I'm guessing a 4-5 o'clock position is most likely the best for not printing. Can on of ya'll that has one confirm?
  15. LOL it was such a big deal in the gaming community when the whole FPS kyle/russia thing went down
  16. Haha I have friends in franklin near the arch bridge on hwy96, I always hear gun shots when I'm driving around over there. I wonder if he does live nearer clarksville.
  17. big fan of hickok. Did you meet him in clarksville? I've always wondered where his farm is, I coulda sworn it was near the franklin area because of certain gunfire I always hear, but this is tennessee after all
  18. what if I buy beer at wally world and take it home. Do I have to be unarmed the entire time? Or does that not apply?
  19. I'm in the same boat as far external extractors go. But I've heard good things about the E series. I think gunblast just recently put out a video/write-up on it
  20. lol I'm sure this is true, it is just hard for me to accept the fact that I could be brought to court for having a blunt object in my possession. Next thing you know they're arresting me for having a 2x4 under 8 ft in my truck bed because it is a potential weapon. Also on a different note, the guys that are trying to sell you collapsible batons or asps or whatever you would like to call them will tell you there is nothing against you carrying one on your person. Had guys tell me there is nothing against them on multiple occasions.
  21. I wonder if this applies to people walking down the street with those "beat sticks" like old people use, you see a lot of those people down here walking around the lake with sticks/clubs or whatevver.
  22. I would check out "white hat holsters" if you haven't purchased one yet. They are essentially a crossbreed with a few significant upgrades. Example, the kydex mold is interchangeable, so you could buy a holster for a glock, and then buy a kydex mold for a 1911 on their website for 20 bucks, and you got two holsters. Instead of buying two 70 dollar holsters, you buy a 60 dollar holster, and then just 20 dollars for additional molds. You can also get lots of different color combinations on the kydex or the cow/horse hide, even some custom stuff. whitehatholsters.com
  23. So, I have to get certified for that lead pipe I keep between the seats of the truck, yea ok ...
