  1. I pretty much knew it was BS, especially when I read the claim that it could pass right through a telephone pole and then create a 5"x5" hole in organic matter on the other side......just thought I'd see if any of you had heard of it or tried it. CTD must have a significant profit margin in selling this stuff to do a write up on it like that. I certainly wouldn't spend the money on it.....I'll stick to my Remington GSB's.....they're expensive enough for me!
  2. I just got my new "Cheaper Than Dirt" catalog in the mail. They have a new ammunition, DRT, that I haven't seen or heard of until now.....and their little write up on it really got my attention. If what they say about it is true, this is some wicked stuff! Here's a few little excerpts from the catalog: DRT 9mm Ammunition-One of a Kind! DRT is it the most accurate ammo ever? This might be it, both in accuracy and terminal ballistics! This ammo does the exact opposite of what you would expect. These rounds will shoot through a telephone pole, but it will not shoot through the average house cat. Here is the best part, these are ideal for crowd control, home defense, or close quarter combat, the bullet will hit the target and dissipate inside the target, killing them instantly without going through and injuring an innocent bystander. How is that possible? It's in the core. Totally different than anything on the market, a powder, not a solid lead blob, but a fine powder mixture. Here is how it works: If you filled a 55 gallon drum with a zillion number 9 shotgun pellets and then shot it out of some space age rail gun with the round spinning at 160,000 rpm, you would have a very deadly round. .......then enters the dynamics of the fine powder! When it hits solid objects like a telephone pole, it stays together and passes right through. When the bullet hits a steel plate it leaves a hole that looks like a cutting torch was used. The magic occurs on an Organic Target. The fine powder is as fine as talcum powder. When it contacts the organic target, the powder is spinning at such a high rate it instantly disperses, creating a crater in the target resulting in Instant Death. The wounds are typically 5" deep and 5" wide. A full 100% energy dissipation as the bullet totally disappears to invisible dust. The accuracy comes from two attributes: First is extreme attention to detail in the manufacturing process, second has to do with the powder core. With the powder core, the material finds its center when spinning improving the accuracy. The most accurate ammo we have ever seen, and the most deadly. Sounds like some badass stuff to me......it better be for $59.97 for a 9mm 50 round box!!!! I'd love to try some of this and see if a 9mm round could actually pass through a telephone pole and then create a 5" deep and 5" wide hole in organic matter on the other side! Anyone ever hear (or see) anything about this ammo?
  3. I carry everywhere, church included. My grandfather-in law was at my house the day the church shooting happened in Knoxville......the special report interrupted his golf tournament on tv. Him and I frequently get into debates about carrying......he doesn't think it's necessary and he thinks I'm "scared" and "paranoid." My response is always "No, I'd be scared without my gun, and I'm not paranoid, just prepared." Anyway, after the tv report I said, "See that? You never know when you might need a gun, even at church." He proceeds to tell me that if I were to shoot someone, even in self defense, that I would still be sinning because I'd be breaking the commandment "Thou shalt not kill." I just shook my head and quit talking to him at that point. I'm not near as knowledgable about the bible as I should be......so I couldn't really think of anything in the bible to back me up that it's ok to kill someone that's trying to kill you. What do you guys think about that one? I could use some "ammo" for this sundays visit!
  4. Welcome to TGO SigGrl! This is a great place to learn and share a lot of good information. Glad to have you aboard!
  5. Exactly why I carry 24/7.
  6. Welcome to the board Schmootika! I haven't been on here much lately and just saw your post and wanted to say Hi! Nice looking babies you have there
  7. Hi Everyone! I haven't been around much the last couple months and I just wanted to say hello. Summers are really busy for me. Between everything I have to do around the property and having a 3 year old to take care of 24/7......I just don't have a lot of time to get online these days. Things are beginning to slow down for me now thankfully, and my son is starting to get a little easier to handle (he was in his terrible threes for a while).......so I should be frequenting the board a bit more now. I'm looking into buying a .22 pistol for cheap plinking fun......so I'm keeping an eye out on the for sale section here too. I'd love to shoot my .40's or my .357's more, but ammo is so darn expensive!! I think a .22 pistol would be a blast.....and I could shoot all day long for less than $20! Hope you're all enjoying your summer! BTW, I was perusing the members list this morning and I noticed several new female members have joined us lately......so chime in and say hello ladies!
  8. Well I'm glad you're enjoying your motorcycle The last couple days have been absolutely gorgeous! Perfect for riding!! My sister (who is 13 years older than me) and her husband just bought a Honda Goldwing Trike. They have their motorcycle licenses already...they had a Suzuki until my brother-in-law totaled it about six months ago. They signed up to take Trike classes.....they say it's a lot different than riding a two wheeler. I'm looking forward to seeing it and maybe going for a ride Let us know how you like the LCP....if you ever get to shoot it!
  9. Cocke County in East TN! The taxes are very low, and land and homes are still reasonably priced. It's an hour east of Knoxville (two big malls there) and an hour west of tri-cities. I'm 15 minutes from either Douglas or Cherokee Lakes and 45 minutes away from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Just stay out of Newport....you don't want to live there! I'm actually about halfway between Newport and Morristown.....I can be in either town in 15 minutes. Morristown is a very nice town....two hospitals, a nice community college, and even a small mall. I do most of my shopping and business in Morristown. I've lived here 14 years and love it!
  10. +1 for a belly band! IMHO they're the most comfortable and secure way to carry without wearing a belt.
  11. Sooooooooo......Have you had a chance to shoot your LCP yet?
  12. Galco makes a nice soft leather one with a thumbstrap. I have one for my Taurus snubbie and I like it....very comfortable. They have different sizes for different guns. I bought mine at copsplus.com...they're about $25-30 if I remember correctly.
  13. Cool Thanks! I think I want one Anyone that has one of these and has put a couple hundred or more rounds through it.....please let me know how reliable it is!
  14. I was used to carrying a Taurus 85 snubbie as my primary carry gun (still do sometimes)......then switched to a Glock 27 mainly because I wanted to have more than 5 rounds available. Even though I've had Glocks for almost 20 years, I had the same concern as you about carrying one with a chambered round. I carried it without a round in the chamber for about two weeks with no accidental trigger pulls......but still felt the need for a little extra safety before I was ready to carry it with a chambered round. I bought a Saf-T-Blok for it and I LOVE it! All it takes is a quick "tap" with the fleshy part of my trigger finger to "pop" it out and it's ready to fire. You should check one out...they cost about $20 and it'll be the best $20 you've ever spent! Here's a picture:
  15. How many rounds does it hold?
  16. Wow, I've never seen an LCP up close......I didn't realize how small they actually are! That pic really puts it in perspective! So, tell me, how does it shoot? Did you get it new or used? How many rounds have you put through it so far...and have you had any issues with it as of yet? Looks like it would make a sweet BUG! I'm interested

  25. Spend $20 on a belly band. It's the best $20 you'll ever spend on any holster. They're super comfortable and they conceal your gun extremely well. I'm heavy set also and I don't like to wear a belt. You should give one a try, I bet you'll love it
