  1. Cheap well shaken soda cans Paper plates with orange stickers for a bullseye Metal "plinker" targets (just got one and its a blast ) Any kind of junk I've got laying around Marshmallows in the water!! Anyone ever try this? Very
  2. Probably not the wisest thing to do while open carrying. Makes us HCP carriers look bad when we do not obey an establishments rules....even though it wasn't posted "properly." Now if your gun was well concealed and you walked past the sign......well that's another story Also not a wise thing to do when OC'ing. Once again, makes us look bad and draws unwanted/unnecessary attention. If $86 is all you've got in your account.....maybe you shouldn't be buying ammo with it? Just my ...and that's probably overpriced
  3. +3 And you can keep your 1911's......I can get two (or more) Glocks for the same $ as a good 1911.
  4. And thanks to Hillbilly J. I now have a MKII NRA edition and I love it!!! I picked up one of those metal .22 plinker targets.....what a blast!!! I got this one for my son.....but it looks like I'll be picking up another one before my son is ready to learn how to shoot....that way we can both have our own The best part: I can buy a box of 550 .22 Federal JHP's for less than $15!! I can actually afford to shoot now!!!
  5. I like it too......but it should read "Pro Life, Pro Gun Hockey Moms"
  6. It's funny, in my marriage, I'm the gun nut. My husband could care less about guns. I wish I could get him interested, but all attempts have failed. Of course, we grew up with completely different parental views on guns and gun rights. Most of the "regulars" here have heard me talking about my stubborn, anti-gun, "turn the other cheek", "live by the sword die by the sword", grandfather-in-law......well that's the man that raised my husband....and my grandmother-in-law feels the same way. I think it's bs that I'll have to be the one that will need to protect our family if a "situation" arises. My husband seems to be confident in his abilities to protect us without a gun......and I hope that I never have to prove him wrong.....but it's still bs IMO. My husband is also against me teaching our son about firearms and shooting.......too bad for him on that one! As far as buying new guns.....it basically works like this: I get a new gun, he gets new stuff for his 4x4
  7. This is what Charlie Daniels has to say about Guns, Church, and Obama. Some of you might have seen this already, but I just ran across it today: Since I identify with the people who fall into Barrack Obama's elitist description about of people of faith who keep firearms I'm not very happy with Barrack Obama's recent remarks. He said something to the effect that us rednecks cling to our guns and our religion when we get frustrated and I would like to take umbrage to these remarks. My faith goes much deeper than his superficial explanation and I love my guns even when I'm not frustrated. And I am not by myself. I was going to church and shooting guns before Mr. Obama was even born and come from a long line of good people who have been doing it for generations. To me this latest Obama blunder only helps reveal the depth of condescension the far left wing of the Democrat party has for the folks out here in flyover country. Mr. Obama's remarks are insulting to a lot of folks. It's kind of like Abraham Lincoln said, "God must love the common people because he made so many of them". His remarks make me think that Obama doesn't know the people of this country very well. I'm sure he knows the jet set and the Hollywood bunch, the limousine liberals and the save the whales, kill the babies crowd, but does he think that the ordinary people don't count? Does he think that they're so stupid that they don't know who he's talking about when he says these things? Does he think their opinions aren't important? Apparently. How can a man stand in front of America and tell people what he wants to do for them and have so little respect for a whole segment of the population. In fact, a very large segment. Does that mean that he would only represent the high-minded liberal ideals of the far left and ignore the rest of us? What kind of Commander and Chief would he make if he doesn't respect the very people who make up the lion's share of the armed forces. You may say I'm over reacting, but I'm getting sick and tired of him making these elitist statements and saying that he had been taken out of context or some other flimsy excuse. After his wife's remark about not being proud of this country and his pastor's statements calling America the U.S.K.K.K.A. and his own statement about not wanting his daughter punished with a baby, it makes me wonder what kind of a man Obama really is and what kind of a president he'd make. Would he be an antigun advocate pushing the effort to take the firearms out of innocent citizen's hands? Would he not respect the religious beliefs of America, not taking them into account in his agenda? I really don't know much about the man and neither does America. He basically came from out of nowhere and as the facts come out little by little, they don't make a particularly confident picture. I have a great fear that if our military gets broken by another president, this time we're not going to have time to fix it again and what that spells for America, I don't even want to contemplate. Oh well, I guess I'll grab my gun and go to church. Pray for our troops What do you think? God Bless America Charlie Daniels April 14, 2008 http://www.charliedaniels.com/soapbox-2008-041408.htm
  8. Ok, I can see the problem with someone that has smaller hands. I'm tall and I have fairly big hands.....the Glock grips with the Hogue Handall fit me perfectly. Verbal, I'd like to see your Glock when you get it back.....you'll have to post some pics for us.
  9. Dang! Those 'stipling" jobs are butt ugly!!! IMO that is. The first thing I do to a new Glock is put a Hogue Gripsleeve on. They feel great, give excellent "traction", and look good too. Do you guys not like the Gripsleeves? If not, why?
  10. Hmmmm, I never thought of that. I could use the $ to buy a couple 13 rd. mags. Thanks Tungsten
  11. Well let me know the next time you're playing somewhere......I just might come and see ya play since I'm not too far from you
  12. I have a couple of the LEO only mags myself (don't ask ). They were made during the mag ban years for law enforcement/gov use. The mags are stamped "Restricted LE/GOVT Only" and they're high cap versions. Mine are for my G23 and they appear no different than my 10 rounders except they are 13 rounders and are stamped "Restricted LE/GOVT" Both the 10 rd. and the 13 rd. have the SAME followers...#5's.
  13. Fivestring, that was awesome!!! It took me about 45 minutes to download it with my slow dial-up.....but it was worth it! What part of East TN are you in? Do you play anywhere regularly?
  14. Mars, you should give these guys a shot: http://music.yahoo.com/ar-294296---The-Call These guys date back to the late 80's-90's and their music is just absolutely powerful. You can listen to some sample tracks free on the above link. Everywhere I go, I Still Believe.....two of my favorites.
  15. I can tell you that Taurus revolvers are awesome guns for the money.....don't know about the semi-autos though....I've never owned or shot one. I thought you decided on a Kahr?
  16. I've heard the name but that's it. I don't listen to the radio much.....so I'm not too familiar with newer stuff. Are they similar to old Metallica?
  17. Yep...took one apart this evening and the inside walls are thicker. Dang, I've got four of these too.....I guess they might come in handy if Nobama gets elected!
  18. I agree 100%. My favorite was Master of Puppets.....Ride the Lightning would definitely come in second though. You're pretty young Metalhead, too bad you didn't get to see them back in their prime. It's cool to see someone as young as you are into the old stuff though Good music comes in all styles Mars.......just like good guns I personally like anything fast.....whether it's bluegrass, hard rock, old metal, and even classical. Slow anything is just boring and depressing.
  19. Hmmmm.....I'll have to check one out today. I'll let you guys know what I find when I take one apart.
  20. I have several post ban Glock 23 10 rd. magazines and I was wondering if I can buy new parts for the mags to convert them to 13 rd. Anyone know if this is possible? And if so, where's the best place to buy the parts? Thanks!
  21. You forgot the best one of all for home defense........ the Winchester 1300 Defender!! sorry...had to throw it in there Mine's loaded like this: 2 00 buckshot, 1 slug, 1 00, 1 slug, 1 00, 1 slug.......no more bad guy
  22. AWESOME!!! Best decision McCain has made! Too bad she's not running for president! Now at least we have some hope to defeat Nobama
  23. Yeah, I agree. I think it might be time for them to retire.......
  24. I'll come if child care is provided
  25. When I was a youngster, about 20 I think, I saw Metallica (I'm an old metalhead ) in concert outside Chicago.....it was their "And Justice for All" tour. It was incredible to say the least. They played for almost four hours!!! The encores seemed to go on forever! At that time Metallica and Guns n Roses were pretty good friends and they both loved Chicago. Guns n Roses were at the concert (they were in Chicago at the time taping a video) .....Izzy and Slash were in the front row and Axle was out in the back of the audience right behind where me and my friend were......with his two HUGE black bodygaurds on each side of him. When the concert ended and everyone started to leave, more people noticed Axle was out in the crowd and word traveled fast.....there was basically a stampede and my friend and I (of which by then were very much inebriated!) got caught right in the middle of it. Axles bodygaurds were on each side of him and had him actually lifted up and were running with him and knocking people out of the way.....one of them slammed into my buddy. When the crowd cleared I looked around and my friend was lying on the ground about 15 feet away from me...one of his shoes were off and he was a little dazed but he was ok. Ahhhh, those were the days!
