  1. I'm sorry, but I'm inclined to believe that libertarian voters are going to hurt a GOP candidate far more than they ever will do harm to a democrat (except on the rare occasion that the libertarian could actually win). If the libertarian wasn't in the election, I suspect most of those voters would have either voted for the GOP candidate or not voted at all. So, the unknown is what portion would have voted, and likely voted republican, if the libertarian candidate had not been in the race.
  2. I like the targets, but what do they do that is "reactive"?
  3.   The one you ordered from Sears was likely a converted No. 4 MK I rifle. These converted rifles were marketed by several companies as a "Jungle Carbine" but were not original No. 5 MK I rifles. I doubt that any original No. 5 MK I rifles were ever sold by Sears, although the converted rifles looked very similar to the real thing.
  4. JAB, our backgrounds are very similar so I can relate to everything you said. Having said that, racism still does exist in society, so there is some validity to the argument that white males have an inherant advantage. However, there are also many racist minority individuals in our society, and the race card is played far too often. There are usually many reasons other than racism that explain the differences in the make of a group in busness or society from the demographics of an area, but those that have a vested interest in continuing to use the race card will never acknowledge that.
  5. I haven't seen any on the shelves of the big box stores in the Memphis area...of course I'm not there at dawn to try and find any either. I occasionally see some in gun shops, but it is still 50-100% overpriced.
  6. 13 left (no matching guarantee) as of the time of this post.
  7.   This is similar to what happened to me several years ago. I found an ammo deal one evening on CTD's website and submitted an order. I received confirmation in my account on their website that my order was in process, so I told some friends about the deal and they submitted orders AFTER I submitted my order. Long story short, I never received my order and all they would say is that it was out of stock even though their website clearly indicated available inventory at much higher prices at other warehouses. Most of my friends did receive their orders at the discount price and one ended up selling me some of what he bought since I gave him the heads up about the deal. I said then that I would never do business with them again, and after their shenanigans over the last year, I have never felt better about having that decision justified...I have no good words for CTD.  :puke:
  8.   I never said that a third party candidate would never get my vote in the first place...I implied that if they don't have a statistical chance of winning, they won't get my vote. As much as I hate pollsters, they are pretty accurate within a few points of predicting elections, and if a third party or independent candidate had strong support from the voting public, and I was in agreement with the positions of that candidate, they could get my vote. That has never been the case with the Presidential election, however, and the third party/independent candidate votes combined with historically Republican voters that didn't vote at all in the last election helped determine the direction this country is moving...not me.   :2cents:
  9. Unfortunately, I don't see the shortage ending anytime soon for multiple reasons. The manufacturers apparently still haven't expanded production capacity enough to really end the shortage because they think that demand will slow at some point and they don't want to be caught with over-capacity when it happens...I don't think that demand will ever slow to the level it was previously. I think many more shooters that need .22 ammo will continue to buy ammo until they have a stockpile that is substantially more than they ever thought was sufficient in the past...creating more demand than supply. There are more gunowners and guns in shooters hands than last year...creates more demand. The political environment is still dicey...creates yet more demand pressure. The reselling hoarders keep buying and reselling, which continues to reduce the available supply of reasonably priced ammo.
  10. There is rarely a candidate that I like everything about or agree with on everything. However, I still want my vote to have the best likelihood of results that I can live with versus being wasted and handing the election to the side that I least agree with. Voting for a third party candidate or an independent that doesn't have a statistical chance of winning at election time is not very wise or realistic...and is nothing more than a naive political statement no matter how much you try to say that it isn't. I vote to try and keep the least desirable side from winning an election. If you don't understand that, and don't vote accordingly, then don't moan and groan when the least desirable candidate and party wins and enacts laws that you are not in favor of.    Do I wish a third party existed that could win an election? Absolutely, but that is not the current state of reality, and if some people don't wake up and smell the coffee soon, this country will continue to go downhill.
  11. I agree with Spots! CTD will never get my business, and it is not just because of their recent price gouging. They are dishonest in their business practices...at least they were with me. And how can one forget their response in December to threatened gun control and their BS reversal explanation.

    Woo Hoo

I think you have to have at least 200 posts in order to be able to change it. In the old system it would change automatically at some point from new member to member, but that doesn't happen anymore.
  13. Those won't last long. I haven't seen a brick of .22LR ammo at a fair price in so long that I'm sure I'll go into shock the first time I actually do find some and someone else will step in front of me and buy it before I come out if my stupor.
  14. That will be a nice little pistol for him to learn on. Congrats on selecting a fine pistol among many other great choices.
  15. As a former Marine, I just have one thing to say. "Are you f***ing kidding me!"
  16. Oops , double post.
  17. Those little Titans aren't as nice as a Bauer, but they are still surprisingly good for what they are. They are very similar to the old Colt Jr and mine have never failed to function.
  18. TrickyNicky, Glad you were able to work it out so you could join the party! :)
  19. Put my order in yesterday for a lower and an upper. I didn't order a second lower since I was going to have to pay an extra $11 on that one too, which didn't make sense to me...I know it's only $11 but sometimes it's just the principal of the matter.
  20. I grew up in south Mississippi and I have killed more armadillos than I can remember. They will jump when hit, and if you don't hit them in the vitals, they will run to their burrow. Having said that, I killed most of them with a .22LR rifle. They are also pretty stupid and young ones are fairly easy to catch by hand if you are patient and grab them by the tail...southern country boy sport. :D     When I moved to this area 30 years ago, I didn't see many armadillos...now I see them dead on the road all the time. I had one tearing up the yard earlier this summer, but haven't seen evidence lately. I don't live in the country anymore, so I won't be able to use the same method of dispatch that I used when I was younger, but I'll think of something because they are a pest and a PITA.
  21. MacGyver, I sent you a PM.
  22. As another poster indicated above, I'm just waiting for my CC cycle to flip over to the next month to push the cash flow out another month...just because I like doing that when I can.  :)  I'll be completing my order this weekend.   I do wish that a west TN FFL would have been selected, especially since I recommended one several times and never recieved a response. My FFL transfer dealer is part time and located just east of Collierville, but he is the cheapest around this area ($20 for the 1st transfer and $10 for the second) and he no longer operates out of his house. I will be buying at least one, but having to add $11 to the price when a west TN FFL wasn't selected/provided doesn't seem fair.   :)
  23. Rob,   I agree...this guy is great, and given the long distances that I know you are willing to travel to purchase something you want, I see a road trip in your future.  ;)
  24.   PM sent.
  25. Does anybody have any thoughts on the Rainier Arms 300 BO polygonal barrels that AIM Surplus just listed on their website? I'm thinking about a 300 BO build for my TGO lower and upper receiver and saw these barrels listed today.
