  1. I had to hold my nose in order to take advantage of the surplus ammo deal at CTD, but I ordered some .303 on chargers and then they listed some .30-06 at prices cheaper than CMP so I ordered some of that too. I have already received the .303 and it was all head stamped HXP 76 in beautiful condition on British charger clips. It was so nice that I reordered some of the loose bulk cases that are also available. I haven't received the .30-06 yet, but it will be here tomorrow. This is a great deal if anyone wants to take advantage of it while they have it. Maybe CTD is trying to make amends for some of its past practices by offering this at a good price. 2. The main requirements are shooting skills, which can be attested to by having an HCP, and you must also be a member of an affiliated shooting club. If none are near to you, I believe you can become a member of the National Garand Collectors club (may not have the name right), which qualifies. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I'm surprised DMark hasn't chimed in yet on this thread. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I went with the service grades on the ones I ordered and got two very nice 5 million series rifles. I have since picked up a WWII era Danish return rifle with a beautiful stock. I would like to go there someday and pick up a hand picked field grade but I'm afraid those days may be past us. There may be some signs of slowing demand though. I see that some rifle orders are being received from CMP in less than a month now, so maybe they will get some in the racks at the South Store soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Glock42

My Avatar and forum name should say it all regarding what I think about the LCP...yes it's a bit snappy and the trigger takes a little getting used to, but with my small hands, I don't really have a problem shooting it. I would also consider a Glock 42 if I found a really good deal on one...or maybe wait for that single stack 9mm. :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Fayette County has one public High School. It is quite far from the Wolfchase area and does not have a great reputation. Shelby County schools is in a state of flux. They used to be highly regarded and some still are, but Memphis City Schools abolished their charter and forced Shelby County to take over the schools. Unfortunately, that was just a back door way for Memphis to take over Shelby County Schools after new school board elections were held. Now, most of the suburb cities have opted to start their own school systems and take over most of the former Shelby County schools that are within their city limits, so those schools will likely continue to be good schools. As for the public schools in unincorporated Shelby County and within Memphis city limits, there are some very highly regarded magnet schools, but they are hard to get into...the rest are a crapshoot from some of the worst in the state to some that are not too bad. 7. I live in the Eads area just across the Shelby County line in Fayette County. Property taxes are significantly lower here than in Shelby County. If you don't have kids in school or plan on going with private school, I highly recommend this area. You could also look at Piperton or anywhere between Eads and Piperton, but Eads is very close to I-40, which makes it quick to get to the Wolfchase area, and quicker getting on the road to Middle TN. If you need public schools, then you should really consider Arlington. You'll pay more in property tax, but they have a very good school system. Arlington is also very close to the Memphis Sport Shooting Association, which is the only outdoor private gun range in the area. I'm a member there, and it takes me 15-20 minutes to get there from my house in Eads, which is southeast of Arlington. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

    Hi Powers

Everybody needs a Hi Power, unfortunately they are like most Sigs...they don't come cheap. Expect to pay $500 plus or minus for a nice shooter. The clones can be found for a little less money, and I hear they function pretty good, but I don't have any personal experience with any of the clones. I have a newer Browning and a 1950's era FN...both are great guns and shooters, but the Browning is mostly a safe queen. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Visited Prichard's new micro-distillery location at Fontanel on the north side of Nashville last week. The double chocolate bourbon is one if my favorites, so I bought a bottle of that to replenish my stock, but tasted many others and came home with an assorted case. Their Private Stock Rum is fantastic...I will have to keep that for special occasions since it is only available at the Distillery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  11. If money is no object, and you are wanting a nice range gun, then I'd go with the many recommendations for the S&W model 686, but could also be persuaded to go with the new Ruger GP100 Match Champion model. If money is tight, you can't go wrong with a good ole S&W model 64 or 65 police exchange revolver. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Kahr PM9

A great deal on a PM9. I have a K9 and an MK9, but I think I might look for a CM9 and save a little money over the PM9. None of these are pocket pistols to me...I much prefer smaller .380 pistols, such as my LCP, for that role. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. It's definitely one of the Italian variant .25 acp pistols mentioned above that were imported prior to GCA 1968 or assembled in the USA with some Italian imported parts after that. It is definitely not a Bryco M38. Sterling also had a model that was patterned after the Italian guns. In really good condition they might bring $150-$200 to the right buyer, but this one would be lucky to bring $100 due to condition. They are all steel guns, not zinc alloy like the M38 mentioned. The biggest problem with these guns is usually crappy magazines, but if the magazine is good, they are pretty reliable shooters. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I believe the price of a CMP Service Grade M1 Garand has increased to $695 plus shipping or pay sales tax and take it home with you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. The CMP will probably be out of the M1 Garand business within the next 5 years if not before then...and their prices keep going up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks for the heads up! I wasn't able to get any if the cheapest stuff because it was sold out, but still picked up a case 124grn and a case of 115grn new brass loads. With no shipping costs this was a heck of a deal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. It's never too late. Yes, prices are higher than they were 20, 10 and even 3 years ago, but so is the price of milk. There are still good deals on some Mosins, Yugo Mausers, Tokarev pistols and Polish P64 pistols to name a few. Small lots of different C&R eligible guns pop up quite frequently, so you need to be able to act quickly sometimes, so having your C&R license on file with some of the major online dealers makes the transaction very smooth. Be warned, however, because a C&R license will cost you more than $30...it makes it too easy to buy C&R guns, so you must hold on tight to your wallet. :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Yeah, I've got an Astra Cub and Beretta in .22 short that I can't shoot because I haven't been able to find any reasonably priced ammo for them. I have an adequate supply of 22 LR, but that doesn't help me with these two pistols. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. It's not more than double anymore with the prices that I see for surplus these days, but it is close. Surplus 7.62x54R ammo will eventually go the way of .303, 8mm, 7.62x25, etc. surplus ammo...and commercial ammo will become a better deal, especially if you reload. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Most on my list have been mentioned by others. My first choice would be a Sig P210, but good luck finding one...and they aren't cheap (so I still pine for one). Since it doesn't appear that you have a Browning/FN High Power, that's what you should really consider. They are wonderful pistols. Another 1911 is always nice or maybe a S&W model 686. Finally, one that has not been mentioned, but is well within your budget, and that's a Kahr T9 elite with wood grips. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. The P64 seems to be the one in the shortest supply. However, it seems like as the gun buying craziness has slowed a bit, they are becoming more available again. The P64 would be my pick first, but now that I picked up a Polish Tokarev with the last batch AIM had, I'm thinking about getting some of the other variants. The other thing in favor of the P64 is that you can actually find reasonably priced ammo for it, but you can't find any for the Toks unless you really want to pay ridiculous prices for it. 22. That doesn't look too good! :( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I fired an UZI when I was around 20 years old in the Marine Corps as part of Marine Security Guard training...exposure to different weapon types and all that. I will just say that it was a handful to control and can't imagine that little girl being able to control it even if she was somewhat experienced. And from what I can see in the longer version of the video, she appeared very apprehensive even with single shots, so she should have never been allowed to shoot that gun on full auto. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Nice find. I picked one up from AIM when they had a batch of C&R eligible High Power pistols recently. It's not WWII era like the one you picked up, but I think I'll keep it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. I'm slowly accumulating parts for my TGO build also. I plan on building a 300 Blackout rifle that I can hunt with if I want. I've got the LPK, buffer and butt-stock, and recently picked up an ARStoner stainless barrel...just got to get the rest of the upper parts and then optics. It'll be a while.
