Politically, Pro-Gun Control is Problematical at Best
molonlabetn replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Thing is... Those who oppose certain rights, but clamor for others, simply don't 'get it'. They have CHOSEN to not 'get it', thus, they never will. Sad little people. -
1K of .308 would be HEAVY to lug around... But, a few belts worth and a tripod-mounted 1919 on the front porch would be excellent if one were holed-up at home in a Night-of-the-Living-Dead situation...

I likely won't get any more holsters until I get a new carry gun... but I have long considered a Comp-Tac product. Which type of clip is supposed to be the most durable? I'll want to know if I ever order...

Looks like there's an angel watching over the little guy in that second picture... Beautiful children Hyaloid! Congratulations!

Sweet... Want pictures!!! I'll answer you last questions by the end of the year, I hope.

I like that idea! Let's see... what warnings could we come up with? "WARNING: DO NOT LOOK INTO THE BARREL WHILE LOADING OR FIRING THE WEAPON" "WARNING: DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY MAY RESULT IF USED TO DRIVE NAILS" "NOTICE: PERSONS STRUCK WITH BULLETS FIRED BY THIS GUN MAY BECOME INCAPACITATED" "NOT INTENDED FOR DRILLING" "DO NOT USE IF DRENCHED IN GASOLINE OR OTHER FLAMMABLE LIQUID" "WARNING: ANY LIVE CARTRIDGES LOADED IN THE CHAMBER WILL FIRE IF THE TRIGGER IS ACTIVATED" "HAS BEEN SHOWN IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE PERMANENT INJURY TO LABORATORY RATS" "CAUTION: WHEN USING THIS DEVICE, MAKE SURE THAT NO CHILDREN OR PETS ARE IN FRONT OF THE MUZZLE" I could go on...

The simple fact that they are reloaded does not make them damaging... A company or individual who properly inspects, trims, resizes, and primes their brass will have few, if any, problems... The damage aspect comes into play when too much or too little gun-powder is loaded into the case... Too much can over-pressure the chamber (kB!), too little can cause a squib load, which may lodge a bullet in the barrel, causing a blockage. Both of those problems can just as likely happen in new ammo as reloaded ammo (since the same procedure is used, once the brass is reconditioned). The big variable is the precision and qc of the entity who (re)loaded the ammo. I've never had a gun blow up. (but, then again, I've never owned a Glock... )

EAST Tenn. TGO members interested in a ______ get together?

Somebody take a picture! -
I would stand behind that idea!

Welcome!

You know, for all of the publicity which Glocks recieve about ADs, which is blamed (mostly rightfully so) on the user, why do we bother with trigger locks? It would seem to me that a finger-lock would be more appropriate! Something rigid like a finger-splint which could be removed before firing? I'm sure that Glock could include a Polymer model with every new pistol!

Uh-oh... We know what's coming!

That's a similar question as if one were to ask whether a $2000 AR is worth that much... The answer is, it depends on what you are doing with it. A $1000 AK from Vector or Arsenal has high quality imported parts mated carefully with American compliance parts, with superior fit and finish. Reliability will be better (though most AKs are very reliable, as it is), and more importantly, accuracy will be noticeably improved. Also, the guns will be more durable... having milled receivers, or at least thick 1.6mm stamped units. They will also have tighter tolerances, resulting in less slop (hence the better accuracy and smoother actions). If this is a gun which you will be using for a long time, don't want to need to upgrade it, and which will run 100% under any conditions with superb accuracy... spend the money. Be prepared to wait for the arrival of a premium gun, regardless of type. They aren't necessarily 'scarce', by definition, but they aren't dime-a-dozen either. Trigger-slap is a phenomenon relevant to Romanian/Century AK triggers with a single 'hook' acting inside the receiver which was not properly machined (poor design, not a mistake). Predominant in cheaper builds, this design allows the trigger to be jarred as it follows the the carrier returning to battery. You feel a bit of a jerk as the trigger tries to 'slap' forward after each shot. Double-hook triggers and properly machined disconnectors solve this problem. The conversion is fairly easy to perform, and the parts are cheap. Here's a good resource: http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/slapfix.htm

A question: What do those who use H&K pistols professionally think about the LEM trigger? I know what I think about it (very positively). Any experience/feedback from the field?
-
Excellent point. You get what you pay for... but it's only necessary to pay for what you NEED (otherwise, get what you WANT)
-
Shooting for accuracy and consistency, the best thing to remember in terms of trigger control is to make your trigger finger contact the trigger midway between the first knuckle and the tip... then squeeeeeeze. Jerking the trigger with your knuckle directly in line with it will cause movement in your poa during the pull. Shooting for defense... the most important thing is to practice enough to know where you will hit, precise sight alignment be damned.

Yes, taking that into consideration as well... This state, and several others, would likely achieve sufficient support for survival. There would be a huge disparity in most areas, especially urban areas, however... I have to wonder though, even here, when so few actually take any action presently... Thankfully, the ones who do, do so to the utmost.

Peter Sellers was brilliant in that movie... indeed a classic! I'm embarrassed to say that I don't own the movie, but my rental rap-sheet indicates that I am a 'repeat-offender'... My wife hates when I make her sit through it (but then, she makes me sit thru 'Shrek', etc..... fair 'nuf) Not sure if many would say that I have the 'right' sense of humor... but I find this move insanely funny! I intend to take you up on that! As soon as my Tantal AK74 finally arrives (just another week & a half, hopefully), and I can get the packing grease/cosmoline cleaned out of her, I'll be bringing it to the next meetup we all have that way...
-
Goodness knows I agree with you in spirit, but it should be noted that there have been more than a few law-makers with an R after their name who haven't been altogether supportive either... And there are a number of Democrats who's agendas aren't tyrannical and self-serving. Ideology isn't a party issue... but a personal one. Certain parties simply attract individuals with socialist ideals more frequently.

How many deaths will it take till we learn
molonlabetn replied to saintsfanbrian's topic in General Chat
That's...... heart-wrenching... What more can be said? -
There are some things worse than death... not the least of which would be living under the heel of a government to whom we meekly handed over our assurance of liberty. I fear that it will only take a few more generations worth of liberal social engineering to desensitize the U.S. population into apathy... Unless we raise awareness, and make a stand, now. I'm glad that I am not alone, though I fear that the number of patriots we assume to be a part of is not as large or devoted as we hope. It has always been the few who made a difference. I can live with that.

All of the WASRs which I have handled were rough and loose. Don't expect accuracy. Saiga would be a better choice, or even cheaper, an SKS. Arsenal & Tantal are some of the higher quality com-bloc AK importer/manufacturers... Century is the importer of many European rifles (including Romanian), and they have a reputation for questionable QC on many of their lines (FAL, HK91 clones, and the WASRs...)
