  1. Depends on the loads you use... with a 1-in-7" twist barrel you can run 69-77gr hpbt loads which penetrate and fragment nicely even down to 2200-2400fps. I am personally planning to do a few tests with 3-4 loads I am considering to buy in bulk, in gelatin, from my 10.5" barrel and suppressor. 60gr VMax, 62gr Soft-Point, 69gr and 77gr HPBT. I just have to get the time (and build a mold for the gelatin).
  2. Lol... he's not a moderator, he was being sarcastic.
  3. For one, your concern is certainly valid... I assure you, however, that we take great care to only remove posts which are off-topic or disruptive (or very offensive) to the subject of the thread. Whenever possible I try to move vastly off-topic posts which do have at least some merit into existing relevant threads, for instance the debate which began today in the Starbucks thread about why or why not Open-Carry is a good idea I moved to an existing thread on that topic, since there was nothing relevant to Starbucks in those posts. As far as the Voldemort threads go, that was a mistake by me trying to merge together several of the parallel threads on him into one place, so the same issues weren't in many different places at once... I screwed up and hit the wrong button and they are gone. I am sorry. Such mass deletions are not the norm.
  4. I'd like to have a lockable room in my house with just huge piles of cartridges I could roll around in...
  5. 1) Because NFA laws are stupid and have no basis in reality. 2) Bullpup triggers generally suck, but otherwise it's just personal preference and cost. Besides, few people feel the need for a short rifle. Personally, having owned a bullpup rifle, I vastly prefer the ergonomics, controls, and trigger of an AR15... and I got a kick@$$ suppressed, sbr'ed AR15 for the cost of that FS2000.
  6. Basically, non-violent offenders shouldn't have been labelled felons in the first place... but without opening the door to even violent offenders being able to wash away their transgressions just as easily, I don't see the rules on expunging felonies and reinstating rights changing, unless crimes are recatagorized across the board.
  7. I just use surplus ammo cans.
  8. The problem is our judicial system is based on how much money a crime generates or costs for the districts, agencies, and lawyers involved... there is very little honor left in the law.
  9. Surprise huh? I can't believe some really think that an attacker is going to confront them and give them a chance to 'surprise' or 'shock' them... As for the media, do you really think that if noone open-carried or made known the fact that they owned guns, then all of the anti-gun propoganda and attempts to ban firearms would stop? No, they would just move on to your preference for firearm handling/ownership and begin to dismantle it and try to make you feel ashamed for showing it. As for being a target for badguys because of being armed, perhaps you should ask yourself if you have ever heard of that actually happening? Criminals are cowards, for the most part, and the ones who are actually hardened enough or high enough to attack an armed person wouldn't do any less if they couldn't see if one is armed. All I know is, when I open carry (which I seldom do, actually), I am carrying a full-size pistol of an effective calliber, which I can draw and fire more quickly and accurately than I could some concealed pea-shooter which would have a much lower capacity and usually be less reliable. None of us can predict an aggressor's action... but I sure as heck can put myself at as much of an advantage as possible to react effectively to it.
  10. There are several other threads in which to debate open carry, I have moved the debate which was starting here into one of them. Carry on
  11. Awww heck... that wasn't a put-down to the FBI. Just saying some angencies prefer their employees be more discreet than posting on a public forum, is all...
  12. Accuracy won't really be affected... in some cases a shorter barrel is actually more rigid and has greater accuracy potential, where it would suffer is in the range, since the muzzle velocity of the projectile would be lower (for .223/5.56 you lose approx 50fps per 2"). The muzzle blast is an easy fix... get a suppressor that's what I did, and now my suppressed AR is still shorter than a 16" gun even with the suppressor installed, and it is quiet enough to be hearing safe without earplugs/muffs (or, in other words, great for home defense without going deaf). Without the suppressor installed, the gun is wonderfully light and handy... would be great for use in a vehicle or in tight quarters, or just for having to carry around without getting too heavy.
  13. I doubt you'll get many public responses acknowledging they currently work for the FBI...
  14. I wouldn't say a revolver will 'never' FTF... I recently saw an example of a brand new S&W revolver lock up several times during a shooting session, and have seen a few others as well. When a revolver malfunctions, it's very difficult to recover... not just a tap-rack.
  15. I prefer businesses that aren't political (when their own products aren't the subject of the controversy), so kudos to Starbucks... I'm not a huge fan of their coffee, but their business approach makes me more likely than not to patronize them (especially over any of the hippie-ninny coffee houses I come across).
  16. I would believe that is possible, with an accurate rifle and a proper scope... but it probably took several tries (unless he got lucky).
  17. Go with the Cougar... much better shooting characteristics.
  18. When the definition of a 'felon' is one who has commited a crime heinous enough to have their rights stripped by a judge/jury, yes. They can't vote either. At some point they had a choice to be part of the criminal activity or not. It is my personal opinion that this is currently executed improperly, however, since a person who has sacrificed their own 'rights' by preying upon those of others should not be allowed back into society until their debt has been paid... (in some cases the debt cannot be repaid, since there is no way to bring life back to a murder victim, or rape victim, etc... those are capital crimes which should be punished accordingly). But, if some are judged to be fit to become a citizen again, free in society, all of their rights should be restored as they were before. Plus, repeat offenders should never see the light of day again, one way or another.

    FNP-45

Both versions are available... I have owned both. The model with the decock and safety is much more user friendly (and IMO had a smoother trigger).
  20. Stupid stuff like drawing from the holster, and practice double tapping silhouette targets... Sounds like that'd be enough to give ol' Jenny an anneurism. Ah yes... the wussification of America has even reached our shooting ranges.
  21. I don't like getting yelled at over stupid stuff... so I won't be going there. I'd get kicked out.
  22. I'm happy with the groups I get when I practice... I just don't really care for standing still and shooting a single target slow-fire, it get's boring. This is a target I ust found in my truck from last year... 50rd at 15yd with an XD-9, at a brisk clip. 1" group at 50yd...? I would be surprised if many factory pistols or factory pistol ammo could mechanically accomplish that, much less with a human in the equation. I don't doubt that it could be done... but I do doubt that it could be done repeatably.
  23. What handguns have you fired before, or have the most experience with? Most-times the best choice is the one which has the most natural manual-of-arms to you. I can tell you which pistol I would pick, out of that list, but you may have different preferences than me... since those are all very different pistols. It might be a good idea to expand your list a bit, because if you have handled/fired each of these and are still undecided, apparently none of them has struck you as the best fit yet... I will point out that the Kahr and the Glock are the most commonly popular, from your list. The Glock would be easier to shoot, and the Kahr would be easier to conceal... that's what that choice boils down to.
