These companies don't do anything you can't do for yourself... it's just one more place for your personal information to be leaked.

So, were you carrying at the time?

Whoops... I guess it pays to read the whole thread before replying!

MTAC is pretty comfortable... but I'd recommend an OWB holster for better ease of movement, and I really liked the shoulder holster suggestion... I may even look into that.

My money's on an ignition module.

I screwed up and accidentally deleted a few of them, trying to merge the related threads together (since there were 5-6 parallel threads going on). I suck, I'm sorry, 'twas a mistake.

I have fired a SAO P220... it wasn't the 5" version, but it was SWEEET. Definetly on my list of .45s to someday own.

If they get back down the the $300 price-point we had a few years ago, you bet I'll buy a few... I wouldn't expect them to get any cheaper than that. What I really want is to buy a decent (non-Century built) .223/5.56 AK or two.

I was cleaning up a few old Voldemort threads, and apparently one I got rid of completely was linked to several of them. Sorry about that folks, my bad.

I've seen far less dignified things affixed to alot of vehicle windows... It's their window and if it matters to them have at it... If we don't want to see it that bad, we can pass them, and everybody wins. I'm not a big fan of stickers on vehicles at all, but between AirEvac, TGO and Hero-Gear there's the three worth it to be to display. If anybody wants to know more about me they'll have to ask.

Powerball doesn't penetrate very well in any caliber... and .380 is already pretty weak, as far as penetration goes. The best stuff I'd heard of was the Remington Golden Sabre in .380 (102gr FHP), then the loads from Federal and Speer. EDIT: The Cor-Bon .380 DPX cartridges would probably do pretty good... but I recollect seeing a gel test and they didn't even expand half the time... so, I dunno if I'd recommend it or not without seeing some decent reviews with actual data.

The problem isn't so much whether or not felons should be allowed to own guns... it's how the law currently defines what a felony is, and the lame punishments for them. A 'felon' should be only one who has intentionally and maliciously caused (or attempted to cause ) serious and irreparable harm to another person or person(s)... whether physically, financially, psychologically, etc... By that definition, I believe felons should not own guns... felons should not be free in society either, period, if their debt to society is still considered unpaid. The fact that one can have their rights stripped because of merely possessing some illicit object, in the wrong place, or at the wrong time (gun, drug, etc...) without actually using it to some harm, or doing harm in order to get it, is ridiculous. But, as the law currently stands, with the wide range of things one could end up with a felony on their record for, it is at least a filter and a deterrent for certain behavior... and it's not very hard to go through life without getting a felony on your record, MOST people do. This is just one of those things to consider before allowing yourself into certain situations.

I'd buy one... nothing says 'get out' like 18 double-ought buckshot pellets. That's like firing both barrels out of a coach gun loaded with 2 3/4"...

It all depends on how, where, and with what precision you take the data... Surface data tells one story, lower atmosphere analysis tells another, upper atmosphere tells another, and ocean temperatures another. Naturally anyone wanting to make a point will choose the set of data which supports their theory. When it all comes down to it, the other planets in the solar system are experiencing similar fluctuations, and the accuracy of temperatures NASA did not log themselves or repeat is of questionable precision anyways... plus, when a single volcanic eruption can put a spike in the chart orders of magnitude larger than the standard deviation, I get skeptical of the accuracy of a loosely supported trend which has only been tracked for a very small portion of what is obviously a much larger, complex, natural cycle. Basically, I believe that NASA put out good data... and I believe them when they imply that they can't attribute their findings to anything in particular. They'll be taking data for a long time after I am dead before a true cycle or trend emerges.

Good stuff... important to be reminded of.

www.georgia-arms.com usually has some Double-Tap makes good stuff... It's worth checking www.ammunitiontogo.com also.

Not sure how this became a caliber war... but just to set the record straight, 9mm, .40, .357sig, 10mm, and .45acp ALL achieve mid-90% one-shot-stop stats, using modern hollowpoint loads, and ALL of them are capable of pushing an expanded JHP to 12-16" of penetration in gelatin, with the proper choice of bullet. There isn't even close to enough difference in power between the weakest 9mm load and a hot 10mm or .45 load which can make up for bad shot placement. With that said, let's all try to not direct insults at one another, whether or not we disagree... unless one has actually used and compared each of these calibers 'for real', then we're equally ignorant... but never accuse someone of ignorance, whose experience you know nothing about.

I never have... but I'm sure a reloader could make his own. What do you need the HP for?
-
I know I've seen 180gr and 203gr SP ammo for this caliber... those expand nicely.

I have several, but a folder is easier to slip in the pocket everyday. And most of my fixed-blades are over 4".

5.56 suppressor on a .22?
molonlabetn replied to Tango down's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I've got a 5.56 can on my AR, and have a bolt-swap .22lr conversion I use sometimes that works just fine with it... I think it works just as well as a dedicated .22 can, it's larger than necessary, so the slightly larger 'exhaust' hole doesn't make a noticable difference. Like Joe said though, it's larger and heavier than necessary. Use plated bullet .22lr ammo and it won't foul the gas port and suppressor as much. -
Woo-Hoo!!! I'm not sure what it means either... I just know it took 3 years to get there. Congrats!

Made me laugh... The author certianly has a strong opinion about 147gr 9mm, but fails to provide any reason for it, aside from abstract accusations of them being 'weak', 'malfunction prone' and 'worthless'. I'm guessing that this sentiment came about from the Miami shootout in the 80's during which the FBI, using 147gr Silvertip ammunition, failed to stop the BGs. But, what he fails to take into consideration is why the bullets failed (and the fact that lighter 9mm projectiles would have likely failed as well, in the same scenario). But, whether it be because 147gr projectiles have come further than those days, or the 147gr scare was a myth exacerbated by a single incident, I have found that 147gr Gold-Dot 9mm projectiles, pushed to the correct velocity will actually penetrate deeper and expand just as much as most other loads... which is why I carry Double-Tap 147gr 9mm +p. Here's some actual data, and a more objective article: Speer Gold Dot Ammunition, Ordnance Gelatin Calibration, Anatomically Correct Targets Here's the load data for the 147gr Double-Tap load (along with other Double-Tap loads): Gold Dot Gelatin Test - Glock Talk
