  1. Not really a fair comparison... UPS vs. FedEx is a free market decision, folks will obviously pick the one with better service and lower cost every time... and should. If they choose one over the other (cost is higher but service is better, or cost is lower but service is worse), that's based on their individual priority... but at least it's based in reality. Free healthcare is actually going to cost more... the public can be decieved about that because they'll never read the bill for themselves, but it's impossible to trick somebody into paying more for shipping when it's in black and white.
  2. The only good things I have to say about UPS are: 1) The local drivers and clerk at the hub are very nice and helpful. 2) They are not DHL But, my FedEx driver got my cell number, and if I am not home he will call and see if I am at work, and bring it to me there, since it's on his route. Ya don't get much better than that...
  3. I received 2 forms... one at my old address, and one at my new address (moving this week). Not sure which one to fill out... or if I should just put 0.5 people at each address?
  4. There's a difference between entering and clearing a house occupied by badguys, and being the one in the house being entered by badguys... I would never try to enter and clear a house by myself, but I'd say the odds are in my favor working from the inside of my home, out, since I'll have a good idea where they will be coming from.
  5. I have avoided Bonnaroo like the plague up till this year, I gave in and agreed to go... I'm not going to carry, mainly because I doubt I'll be able to enjoy the masses of stinking hippes while sober. Such is life. I know I could smuggle in a carry weapon, and I know it's not 'illegal' to do so since they never properly post and the alcohol isn't being served within the confines of a building... but if there's a risk of being caught with it, there's the risk of being ejected and ruining the experience for those who invited me. I'd rather try my best to have fun, and if something bad happens to me because I unable to adequetely defend myself, that's on their concience. I'm not going to agonize over it.
  6. I'm more interested in the Keltec P30 that is coming out... .22magnum, 30rd magazine. I can practice with cheaper ammo, with the same ballistics, and carry 50% more ammo. 5.7x28mm is 'effective' in terms of that it will incapacitate someone under the right conditions... the problem is that the ammunition which is readily available to the public will not penetrate very deeply at all, so one must rely on the accuracy and controllability to put several rounds in a sensetive spot to do the job. SS190 is good stuff though, if you could be sure that you could get it. This stuff is also supposed to be pretty good: http://www.eliteammunition.com/ I'd be interested in a P90 (or settle for an sbr'd PS90), since it is a very convenient platform for a SHTF scenario, and one could carry alot of ammo and still have room in the pack for other survival items. Really, when it comes down to it... the 5.7x28mm is a severely neutered 5.56, which already has questionable performance in some circles. I wouldn't make it my first choice, is all I'm saying.
  7. I'd recommend 62gr Brown Bear FMJ... it's heavy enough to take advantage of the twist, and cheap... but not crappy like Wolf. Unfortunately though, if you want to practice with match-grade accuracy, you gotta buy the match grade ammo. Another option would be to pick up some 68gr BTHP reloads from Georgia-Arms. They are very reasonable.
  8. Maybe us all...

  10. For $2300, it better do alot for me... on those lonely post-apocalyptic nights.
  11. No need for this. Disagreement doesn't make him wrong. This debate has occurred many times, and will probably occur many more... Argue the idea not the person.
  12. Exactly... it is a choice to abide by the restriction or face the consequences. Personally, I'm going to breathe and I'm going to carry... nobody ever promised that exercising a right was always easy, or that everyone would agree. Going along with jumping through a few hoops, for the sake of keeping peace, is sometimes just prudent... choosing one's battles. But, I'm not going through life thinking "That's all the government let's me do, that must be all there is" (good thing the founders of this country didn't think that way). It has little or nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment either... because all that is, is written affirmation of one method we have to defend ourselves, both individually and collectively.
  13. In 8 years I haven't had to show my HCP to any LEO... it still has the address printed on it where I lived 2 moves ago (but I have updated it electronically several times, including when I renewed). The other day I changed my address, because I am moving, and decided to order duplicates... I expect the HCP to take just as long as a renewal, but the DL should be here this week.
  14. I duct-tape it to my forehead when I open-carry... otherwise it's in my wallet next to my DL.
  15. Rights don't originate from the state or a piece of paper, those can only confirm or deny them. In TN we are denied the right except if we pay the rite of passage to do so... essentially, the right is taxed. If a group of politicians told you that it was illegal to breathe without an oxygen permit, does that make breathing a priviledge?
  16. My dad has that exact same shotgun... here is where you can buy parts: Numrich Gun Parts Corp. - The World's Largest Supplier of Firearms Parts and Accessories You either need a bolt, bolt slide or somehow a pin sheared and needs to be replaced. Best bet is to take it to a gunsmith, unless you feel brave about disassembling it... Holler if you want help with that though, or if you'd be interested in selling it. I'm no gunsmith, but I've had my dad's apart.
  17. The holes in a 5.56 suppressor are larger than .224... I'd have to measure mine to determine just how much more, and it may not be enough to fire a 6.5 without having to bore it, but I think what was being referred to was the internal volume/size of the suppressor, not the hole size (which is changed easily enough)
  18. Point shooting is one of the more valuable skills one could practice... that's just my opinion.
  19. I lived in AZ for 5 years... I don't miss it... but, if you have the time check out the petrefied forest, meteor crater, sunset crater and of course the grand canyon. Also, if you make it out east of Phoenix, there's an awesome restaraunt at the base of the superstition mountains called the Mining Camp... it's really really good.
  20. I could certainly see replacing the House of Representatives with a system of democratic voting (where any citizen can cast a vote on any issue), but in keeping with the Constitutional requirement for checks and balances, it would still be good to have the Senate (so that bills may be originated), and to weigh budgetary issues (because you're not going to get 300+ million people to agree on a budget). Also, there must be a way to verify all decisions voted on by the people are Constitutional, because I certainly wouldn't want mob-rule to vote away any portion of the Bill of Rights (for instance). Going back to the budgetary concern though, if we each had an individual voice, it would be an equally awesome idea if we each had a say in where our individual tax contributions went (ie, I could file my taxes to be specifically part of the Defense budget)... THAT would really show the government where the people's priorities lay, by putting our money where our mouth was. There might be enough voters to support medicare, socialized health care, etc... but if you can't take the money from people who don't want it, it won't happen (since the people who support it generally aren't the ones paying the taxes).
  21. I've been wondering if the new Magpul AFG would be considered legal though, since it's not 'vertical'? Interesting question... But registering an SBR would allow you to put on a VFG, and even a stock.
  22. Use a 6.8 suppressor... the passages in the baffles are oversized in any centerfire suppressor, anyways, by way more than .3mm. It'll be just as quiet.
  23. 3% per year is pretty standard, that barely keeps up with cost-of-living and inflation...
  24. Yeah, that wear looks like something is out of spec...
  25. I texted David to see if he got your mail... one of us will activate you asap.
