  1. You're not required to keep a sales record of the transaction. I'd say just chalk it up to experience... check pockets next time, and don't worry about it. I suppose if you really wanted to have some record for future reference, write down the make and model of the gun, everything you can remember (S/N perhaps), stick it in an envelope and mail it to yourself from a drop-box, and keep it sealed when you get it back. Might not be as good as a signed receipt, and you'll almost certainly never need it, but at least you'll have a back-dated statement that you did sell the gun.
  2. I've always heard that if you reload, you don't necessarily save any money, but you do shoot more. And, I can certainly see how it would be much cheaper to roll your own 'match' grade loads as opposed to buying factory match ammo whilst trying to find which one shoots best through a particular gun through trial and error.
  3. Most of the premium brands are not affected much by clothing. It's simply a matter of some being slightly better than others... and of course the randomness of reality. Since, what does any of it really matter if the bullet strikes a button, or something in a breast pocket, causing it to fragment or deflect... It really doesn't matter what ammmo you use, as long as it will penetrate enough, and you can hit with it repeatedly and quickly. Spending money on a premium SD cartridge is like taking the extra care to run premium gas in your 'Vette, even though it'll run okay on regular. That extra little bit might be what you need when the time comes to put the hammer down.
  4. Because when the hollowpoint gets clogged expansion is delayed, and will act more like a FMJ round, thus penetrating deeper.
  5. I plan to stop in there this week, when I can make it up that way.
  6. Some of those guys can make a helluva left turn.
  7. The other option would be the Double-Tap load: http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_62&products_id=233 It seems to get the most out of that little cartridge. I haven't seen any terminal ballistics on it, but with about 15% more velocity than the next best JHP .380 load, I'd be willing to give it a shot... especially considering the excellent reputation of the Gold-Dot bullet they use in their loads. Other than that, the Remington 102gr Golden Sabre might be worth trying... the heavier bullet would obviously have greater sectional density, and be a good penetrator as a result. All of that is speculation, of course... but incapacitating people with handgun calibers is a crapshoot at best, anyways.
  8. Any FMJ which will function reliably. JHPs don't penetrate enough in this caliber.
  9. You can get practice ammo for about $15 per 50rd. That's when you buy it 500rd at a time or more, of course, but it's about the same as shooting .45acp, in terms of cost.
  10. Just mount it to the handle-bars. Problem solved.
  11. I'm pretty sure that I'll make it to lunch, and at least come to the range for a bit.

    Miss me?

Good to see ya' back, man. Thanks for the note.
  13. C'mon... every pistol with a rail is obviously just a half-rate copy of a Glock.
  14. Got pulled over for the first time in years Thursday (expired tags, I have no idea where Misty stashed the renewal)... in a vehicle with 1911 and .45acp stickers on it, no less... guns never even came up. He was really nice to me though.
  15. Foot rub? Is that what they're calling it now?
  16. Depends on when you go out there... 1000yd requires that they block off a section of an adjacent road, as I recall, and they don't do that much even for the military shooters. If ya' want, I can find out what arrangements could be made. I work with the folks who operate the private club out there.
  17. Only problem is... this wouldn't blend in around here.
  18. I ended up back home after the wedding & stuff... next month is wide open though, since I don't have any more sisters to marry off.
  19. If you guys do meet for lunch, call me, and I'll swing by before I head back to Tullahoma. Strick, I've got your stock, if you get ahold of me I'll drop it by either way.
  20. Not if they argued from the reality of the matter... meaning that such psycho-suggestive rituals do indeed alter the state of mind of impressionable people enough to do some pretty dumb stuff, regardless of whether it's in a religious context or not. I wouldn't insult God by associating him at all with the occultish practices going on like that.
  21. The PF9 is large enough to make it a stretch to call it a pocket pistol... If you want to carry that way, and want a 9mm, I'd suggest looking into a Kahr PM9.
  22. It's starting to look like I'm not going to be able to stay for this Sunday... I've got to get back home earlier than expected. Big bummer.
  23. The T.C.A. says: (a) It is an offense for a person to possess a firearm within the confines of a building open to the public where liquor, wine or other alcoholic beverages, as defined in § 57-3-101(a)(1)(A), or beer, as defined in § 57-6-102(1), are served for on premises consumption. They say 'building' (as in, something with walls and a roof), not 'structure' or 'premesis'... so it would seem to me that an open-air race-track would obviously not be a building. That's how I've always treated it. Have fun.
