  1. One option might be a 6.8 AR. Best of both worlds... or a .308 AR10.
  2. No kidding. I plan to buy a set.
  3. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4937
  4. I have seen very few ARs take a dump. I've seen just as many cheap AKs fail... If you get an AK, get a good one. That means spending nearly as much as on a cheap AR. That said, I vastly preferred the $750 AK I had to the $750 AR I had previously... so within those budget constraints the answer is obvious. The difference is the cost, and what you get for that money is a more user-friendly platform. Either gun will be as reliable as the workmanship and ammo put into it. I'd be insane to say that I'd prefer my ex-AK to a $2000+ AR that is set-up properly.
  5. It may be possible for someone unfamiliar with shooting a semi-auto rifle to inadvertently 'bump-fire' a few rounds.
  6. There's always one nearby... and I'm sometimes carrying, if I've just been out, or will be going out. But I don't holster up if I'll just be around the house.
  7. Yep. This is exactly what I have done in the past (when I had more than the one gun I was going to carry, with me).
  8. Has yet to happen to me. Good reason to start brewing my own.
  9. I haven't locked down what I'll do with my SBR, when my lower arrives, but I'm leaning towards a CMMG 7.3 Pistol upper with carbine-length 4-rail, either a suppressor or a Noveske brake, and probably an EoTech, or one of the new, larger Trijicon Reflex sights. It'll definetly need a tungsten buffer and possibly a pig-tail gas tube.
  10. I won't know if I'll be able to make 3-gun until probably that morning. My sister would kill me if I showed up to her wedding late, dirty, and wearing 5.11. Just depends on if I can get to the church in time.
  11. Sorry, I fubar'ed the other threads and poll trying to merge them... hit delete accidentally. Anyways. The poll was 6-2 in favor of Sunday, so I'm restarting it at that point. Carters? Other options for where to shoot?
  12. I never had good luck with ProMag magazines. Haven't tried any recently though, and never for a P225.
  13. Wouldn't the very act of the government limiting private 'arms' to mean only certain small arms be 'infringement', by definition? We all know that the founders were well aware that the arms necessary for the security of a free state must include those which could match a foreign military.
  14. If the owner of the building has the alcohol license, it really doesn't matter what rooms do and do not have it. I think the only grey area would be in the case of a mall which houses a restaurant with an alcohol license... the mall itself doesn't serve beer, but one would probably only get in trouble for entering the restaurant portion itself. I'm no lawyer though.
  15. I think we're meeting at the Burger King in Spring Hill first, you'll certainly be able to follow somebody from there.
  16. There's no point in making compromises when the problem is the Speaker of the House. So, no.
  17. If I can borrow a rifle, I'll shoot 3-gun... I've played before. I think the wedding is at 2... I ought to be able to make it back up there. Suppose I should run the course in a tux? Honestly, Sunday would work better for me... but I'm up for anything that's feasible. 2 things I'll need to know: What caliber ammo should I bring for the rifle, if I can borrow one? And, do you guys use strict IDPA 3-gun rules? I've got a magwell on my XD, but I can remove it if necessary.
  18. Well, somebody call me Sunday mid-morning on the 13th, if that day works for anybody... I won't be near a computer: cell: (XXX) XXX-XXXX I'll have a few guns with me, for sure.
  19. One to OC, and the other a BUG...
  20. Not sure about a shooting skill... but as long as a person is a law-abiding citizen, can see well enough to distinguish a threat and hit it, and has the dexterity to pull a trigger, they should not be prohibited from owning/carrying a weapon (as opposed to 'given permission' to do so).
  21. I had always regretted selling my first XD, a subcompact XD-9 several years ago... well, today I made up for that by getting another one: And here it is next to it's larger sibling: I also bought a Don Hume 721OT to carry it in. Thanks to Hero-Gear for feeding my addiction! Pierce grip extensions and a set of XD Big Dot sights to follow shortly.
  22. All of them. But the top 3 are: 1. Restaurant carry 2. Park carry 3. Private business postings legally enforceable
