  1. RC3 was optional, I didn't pursue it. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04
  2. While it is not against the law to enter a flood zone, it is against the law to breach a roadblock. Put simply, this fellow should have found another way around the roadblock. The cops were truly just doing their jobs, even though the justification for a strict roadblock is questionable.
  3. I use Linux, perhaps the update was available earlier for it? I never recall using RC3 before the update to 3.0...
  4. Mine updated automatically yesterday.
  5. Bowling pins? Not sure if I could hit one.
  6. If I can make it, I'll take care of those last 3. I'll know later this week if it'll work out for me.
  7. The majority of my friends who have found out that I have gun and/or carry, want to or have bought guns of their own, some with intent to start carrying.
  8. I'm hoping for an upgrade for my first generation, decock-only FNP-45 to the current version which incorporates a safety into the lever. I'd like to carry the gun cocked and locked, and the DA mode simply be a redundancy.
  9. Change the grip ergos, and I'd buy one.
  10. I don't like to hold the magwell of any rifle... in the event of a case rupture, that's where alot of shrapnel will go.
  11. That was, "Once Upon a Time in Mexico"... Antonio Banderas, Eva Mendes, Johnny Depp... Good movie, poor technical realism (but I don't think it was supposed to)
  12. Thank you, everybody. I'm having a hard time processing this. Most days I just feel numb & empty, and am trying to find a new way to live and figure out this new 'normal'. But, lately, I've been having more good days than bad days... and reflecting on memories have become more happy than sad. I'm thankful to have 2 loving families on either side of me, and a great bunch of friends, among whom I count all of you. I wish that noone ever had to deal with something like this... The self-pity stage is pretty much over with, now I just miss her. Life went by too fast with her, and too slowly now without her. I simply have no more fondness for this life, and daily remind myself that I'm a little closer to being with her again... even though that seems so painfully distant. I've been catching myself anytime anything good or happy occurs, wanting to call or go home and share it... this weekend was like that, there's just noone else who I want to be a part of my happiness. The little I have left. I'll never take anything for granted again. Again, thank you.
  13. The combat reload was the #1 thing which I took home from the class. The simple action of smacking or inserting the mag, and then racking the slide is the most consistent manner of getting a pistol reliably back into action, whether it requires more rounds or a malfunction cleared. I was amazed with how instinctive that motion became over the weekend. Aside from that, just the simple environment of shooting to make hits under stress is of great value... even if it's artificial stress. Thanks guys! Over and above everything I learned, this was a much-needed diversion for me at this time. Todd & Dustin run a phenominal class.
  14. FNPs cycle slow. It's just the nature of the heavy slide. My FNP .45 cycles slower than any pistol I've ever fired... but the recoil is very low, for a .45.
  15. 1250rd is about enough for 2-6 months... it should keep fine for that long. Reload it using standard primers.
  16. I have one, never hunted with it, but it's very fun to shoot. I'm sure with some potent .357mag loads, such as Double-Tap, Buffalo-Bore or Hornady's new Leverution, it would be perfectly sufficient for medium game, such as the deer around here, inside of 100yd.
  17. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse...
  18. It's not per-use... it's part of a package that is like $9 a month.
  19. I just use my cell phone. Most modern phones are GPS enabled, and give excellent directions with a simple software download.
  20. Yeah, once one crosses state lines with something like that... repercussions due to state laws will be the least of their worries.
  21. In TN anyways, there is really no distinction regarding what you are raffling off, as long as the revenue is collected only for a 501©(3) charitable organization at a registered event: http://www.state.tn.us/sos/charity/gaming/index.htm http://www.tn.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2003/OP/OP49.pdf If a game of chance is held for profit in TN, criminal charges up to and including a class E felony (for $10,000 and above), are the likely result.
  22. From what I've seen, the XD-M appears to use a similar trigger system as the previous version, so it's likely that upgrade parts would fit and work around the added sear deactivation bar. As it comes, the trigger is a bit crunchy, but that's probably just due to the 2 extra moving parts... the trigger travel and reset is much improved.
  23. I'm pretty confident that my .357mag lever action would serve me well... I still need to get a decent .357mag revolver to share ammo with it. A .22lr carbine would be nice, too. Other than that, I have very little practical use for most things tactical... but they make great, fun gaming guns.
  24. Depends on why you're doing it. There are plenty of occasions I'd prefer to conceal... but I've got 2 good reasons for sometimes not: 1. Comfort. Why not stay nice and cool with just a t-shirt without having to carry a mouse-gun or subcompact? 2. Education. The more people who know that it is legal, positive and normal for good people to have a gun, the easier it is to 'recruit' new shooters. Besides, what is the point of any other kind of pro-gun exposure if we are scared and ashamed of our own?
  25. I'd just call them un-conventional composite service pistols...
