  1. Yah, there's no way that this gun will do well at that price point... as to it's comparison with other polymer striker-fired pistols, I'll reserve judgement until I can shoot one. I really don't care how it looks though.
  2. .17hmr might be a good option...
  3. I've heard more than one person say that they just use the dishwasher...
  4. Go to both... as a matter of fact, go to a couple of shows, and as many dealers as possible. Ask people who own the weapons you are considering how they like them, and what to look out for. Go to a few ranges which have rentals available, and see what kind of grip and trigger-action feels the most natural. If you're pressed for time, the best bet for finding all 3 at the same place will be at a gun-show... but that's not where you'd get the best deal, although the difference we're talking about is on the order of probably only $15-$25... it's just up to you whether the convenience is worth that much.
  5. We could always just stab hot-dogs onto the bayonet of musicman's Mosin... one or two shots should cook them to perfection.
  6. There is only one shop which I have ever bought from which I will never return to. It's in Tullahoma... it's the only one in Tullahoma, so it's not hard to figure out. Of the several others which I've patronized, Franklin Gun Shop was very friendly but overpriced. Specialty Arms II in Lavergne wasn't so overpriced, but certainly not very friendly. Not that you have to make me feel like you're my buddy in order to sell me something once... but it sure helps if you want to sell me something twice.
  7. An Atheist? No way... I don't believe in them.
  8. I had a great time today, Owl Hollow really impressed me... thanks to Hunter for taking good care of us, and to HanSolo for sponsoring us as his guests! We had a great turnout, I didn't get a head-count, but I know that there was over a dozen who came to Snappy Tomato, and I think we picked up a few more at the range. The ladies were well represented, as well.... even though my wife didn't attend (I guess we're just not as cool as broiled crawfish and Papa Roach...) Next time, if permissible, we should bring a grill and cooler instead of hitting a restaurant. Good times folks! Thanks to everybody who came! I hope that we get to see the pictures Mrs. bnagashima's took during the event.
  9. I'm a big fan of the 711 and 721 open-top models. Very comfortable and affordable.
  10. That looks pretty good. Polymer guns look good in two-tone.
  11. I didn't know the 10/22 used the same extractor... makes sense though. Good info.
  12. Off topic is one thing, breeding animousity is another. If it's unhealthy to TGO, it is not tolerated. Off-topic banter is healthy, until it totally drowns out the purpose for a given thread. I 'made invisible' a few posts... hence my "Sanity Check" reference.
  13. I had one in my AK74, that, plus a Wolff +15% recoil spring made the gun a real *****cat. I would put both in any AK I owned again, for sure. It doesn't really reduce recoil, but it prevents the jarring impact of the bolt-carrier on the frame... and the extra-power recoil spring helped smooth out the cycling, and made up for the reduced travel of the carrier because of the buffer, but increasing the forward momentum which stripped cartridges from the mag. An excellent combo. It felt like shooting a 9mm carbine.
  14. True... unless you can find a used Taurus Tracker or don't mind a Ruger Blackhawk (though I don't know who'd want a SA revolver for HD)
  15. Indeed, but the current generation will be bearing the brunt of it's gross mismanagement by the previous generation.
  16. They make .45acp revolvers, too.
  17. I must be slow then... I waited until I was married.
  18. Sanity Check.
  19. Social Security and Medicare.
  20. Considering that the 'Baby Boomer' generation is the first in history to be leaving this country in worse shape, overall, than when they received it, there really isn't any valid argument in their defense. That doesn't diminish the lack of responsible or intellectual individuals which have been successfully nurtured to improve the situation, but this is arguably a manifestation of the 'sins of the father...', not a natural progression of social breakdown. Who is to blame that the youth of today have no sense of responsibility? Their parents (or lack of them, in many cases)...
  21. Sig P225(P6) pistols are excellent guns, well worth the money. I agree that it would be a good idea to check around locally, you might find one cheaper than you could order, ship, and transfer altogether. There are occassionally a few posted here on TGO in the for-sale and vendor areas.

  23. I think a flamethrower in hell would be called a 'squirt-gun'.
  24. Depends on the size and weight of the gun, what state it's going to, and whether or not you insure it.
